Picture this:
John is in bed having one of his nightmares about the war. He's trembling and jolting like usual. The movement wakes up Sherlock who is lying next to him. He slowly wraps his arms around a shaking John which gently wakes him. With his face pressed against Sherlocks chest, John began to silently sob. Sherlock pulls him in tighter resting his chin on johns head. He murmurs softly reassuring him and kissing his forehead until he drifts off to sleep again. When he begins to snore, he loosens his grip so that johns head is flat against a pillow and after peacefully watching him sleep for ten minutes or so, begins to softly snore himself.
