"So, do you have much expeirence and waiting at all?"

I was currently in an interview with Jason, who is the manager of 'The Shack' which was a beach kiosk slash bar just down from the university.

"Well, yeah kind of, when I turned 18 I started working at a club, and did some waitressing as well" I smiled, extremely uncomfortable with the situation I currently had found myself in.

"Well unfortunately you aren't going to be able to serve alcohol until you are 21, but you can be a bar back and just replace the kegs, stock the bottles, clean glasses and stuff to help out the bar staff and waitressing. I'm going to have to trial you out first though, two weeks, and we'll see how we go. Sound good?"

I beamed at Jason and confirmed that it was more than fine, as well as giving him my number and asking what I had to wear before we parted ways. My first shift would be on Thursday, two days from now and I was already so excited to start.

I loved working behind the bar back home. It was such an amazing atmosphere and always a good time and laugh. And at times, there were hot guys that came in and you could have a flirt.

Coming into the house I had a shit eating grin and skip in my step.

"Someone looks happy"

"Jakey! I just had the bestest day ever! I got a trial at The Shack and I'm starting on Thursday and they have the cutest uniforms! And Jason is so nice, and I kinda get to work behind the bar which I love! And I am just so bloody happy! I punctuated this ramble with a short squeal that made Jake look as though he wanted to kill himself.

"I'm happy for you short stuff but tone down the excitement a little, you're going to burst my eardrums"

Laughing we headed towards the kitchen in need of celebratory ice-cream.

Unfortunately the celebration ended just as quickly as it began.

Jeremy had his tongue down this girls throat while she groping him on our kitchen bench. Jake stepped into the room and cleared his throat, but that did nothing to deter them.

"Right well, I'll get the ice cream and spoons and you go sit out back darlin"

"Sounds good to me"

It seems that was enough to stop them.

Jeremy literally jumped away from the girl and his eyes immediately met mine.

"Hey guys! How we all doing?" He spoke loudly and clearly uncomfortable. Rolling my eyes I continued my way past them and out the back door to the porch.

I heard the mumbling of their responses before I sat down on the rocking porch swing, awaiting Jake and my ice-cream.

I pulled my feet up to rest on the swing and slowly undid my shoes, taking my socks off as I went, resting my bare soles on the warm timber.

Looking out into the backyard the green grass looked so soft and inviting.

A few minutes later I was lying down on the grass and rolling around like a dog.

"You okay there darlin'?"

"Did you bring the ice-cream or what Jay Jay?" I yelled from my comfortable position on the grass.

"Yeah,  I got it, chill" he laughed and joined me on the grass handing me a spoon and dumping the cookies and cream ice-cream I bought the other day in front of me.

I eagerly popped the lid and scooped a massive spoonful into my mouth, before giving Jake a lobsided grin.

"So how come I haven't seen you with a sexy mama?" I laughed and proceed to gauge myself on the ice-cream.

Jake scoffed and shoved his spoon into the container and rolled around so he was on his stomach.

"I'm not interested in sleeping around with random chicks, and all that I just want the one" he mumbled the last bit and quickly shoved some more ice-cream into his Southern gob.

"Oh, really now?" I completely faced him and raised a brow.

"And who exactly is this lucky girl?" I questioned, stunned that this had been the first time I had ever heard of this and I was thinking we were starting to become really close.

"Yeah well that's my little secret isn't it" he turned and gave me his little charming smile.

"Well how am I meant to wing women for you if I don't know who I am trying to pull in" I questioned, seriously confused.

I heard his hearty laugh as we continued to stare at me like I had lost my mind.

"I didn't say anything so you could help me with her, and she isn't really the type of girl that you can just wing women and get with, she takes some serious grafting. She is worth it though, and one of these days I'm going to convince her that we're worth it"

I swooned and fell on top of him and squealed.

"You're so fucking cute! I need to find me a guy that's willing to do some of that shit" I sat back down and ate some more of the ice-cream to help me feel less like a loser for not having someone like Jason.

"Shut up" he hissed at me and sat up.

"You keep you're little secret Jakey, I'll work it out soon enough" I smiled at him and punched his shoulder.

"Mhm, good luck with that shortcake" he smiled.

"Hey, where the hell is my ice-cream?" from the porch Adam was standing with a spoon and a massive grin.

We waved him over and soon we were all eating ice-cream and mucking around, talking about school and I was filling the boys in on my new job.

An hour and a tub of ice-cream later, Matthew walked out and came to join us.

"Hey sis! How was your day?" he smiled down at me and fluffed my hair.

Excitedly I told him all about my new job, and that I would be starting in the next couple of days.

"That's awesome! Congrats Al! You should ring mum and Carter" he said brightly, as if I hadn't already thought of doing that myself.

Taking the hint that he either wanted to have some boy time or wanted to get me way from the boys, I went inside to make the call, grumbling about how stupid brothers were.

Unfortunately, I have impecable timing and when I walked into the kitchen the girl with Jeremy earlier had also walked in. Wearing one of his Brisbane Roar soccer jersies.

"Where do you guys keep the cups around here?" she asked in a huff.

I simply pointed to the cupboard and continued upstairs, trying to rationalise with myself that I shouldn't be hurt by this. That he was my best friend and that was all that he was ever going to see me as so I may as well get used to it and move on.

Whilst occupied by the thoughts in my head I ran straight into the Devil himself. Shirtless. And wet.

"Oh, uh sorry A, guess I wasn't really watching where I was going" he gave an awkward laugh and scratched the back of his neck.

"Your whore is in the kitchen" I replied curtly and slammed my bedroom door behind me.
