Chapter 5:

The Hunter and the Vampire

"For the last time, I'm not Mickael!" Balthazar shouted. "I had a brother named Michael."

"Really?" Damon said sarcastically. "Because I'm sure you're a doppelgänger as well."

"Did you just say doppelgänger?" Asked the Doctor, putting a hand on his sonic screwdriver for safety.

"You tell us what we need to know and then we'll answer you." Said Elena, boldly.

Balthazar looked at Sam, Dean and his brothers. Should he tell them he's an angel of The Lord? Sam motioned for him to go ahead.

"You think I'm Mickael because of this." He gestured to the person he was in. "Well this is a vessel."

"You're possessing someone?" Elena asked, knowing how it felt when her doppelgänger, Katherine had possessed her.

"Possession is more for when you take without asking. That's what demons do and I'm not a demon." Balthazar explained.

"So what are you then?" Asked Bonnie. Her feather earrings swayed as she folded her arms.

"I'm an angel. You know, the winged soldiers from up above."

"If you're an angel then why are you in somebody?"

"An angel's true form is too powerful to be seen." Said Castiel.

"And sometimes when they talk all you get is the sensation that your eardrums are going to burst." Said Dean who experienced that sensation five years ago when he was brought back and Castiel tried to talk to him.

Damon shrugged, put down his weapon, and leaned against a tree trunk. Elena put her weapon down, following Damon's moves and stood next to Caroline who was in front of Balthazar. Everyone else looked uncertain.

"Angels? There's no such thing." Said Caroline.

Dean chuckled remembering having said those same last words five years ago when Castiel had raised Dean from Hell. Castiel's words before he showed Dean the shadow of his wings ran in his ears forever. "This is your problem, Dean." Castiel had said. "You have no faith."

Then Castiel had caused lightning that lit the whole shed white. And in the white light were the shadow of wings.

"What are you laughing at?" asked Damon.

"My friend, Cas told me 'I'm an angel of The Lord' and I said the same last line before showing me his wings. Well their shadow 'cause their wings are invisible to us." Dean explained. "They're not joking. I've known Cas for a little over five years."

"So angels, huh? Cool." Said Damon to Dean. "You're an older brother, aren't you?"

"How'd you know?" Dean said smiling.

"I've got a younger brother, as well. He's the one over there." Damon pointed to Stefan.

"I'm Dean Winchester." Dean said, shaking Damon's hand. "Did you just say 'cool'?"

"Damon Salvatore." Smiling, he said, "I guess with the vampires, hybrids, wolves, witches and all, angels fit right in."

"We're not from Virginia. Me and my brother are from Lawrence." Dean said. "Witches? Wow."

"Depends on who you meet." He looked at Bonnie. "That's Bonnie Bennett. She used to be a witch, a powerful witch. Her powers went away."

Dean nodded. Dean remembered when him and his brother had to play marriage counselor to witches to save their skin. They had gotten flung against the wall a few times.

"You're different than anyone in this town."

"Because I came here by accident in a machine that isn't supposed to exist?"

"No." Damon replied. "You've seen a lot more than angels and the greatest hits."

"Yes I have." Dean said slowly, reaching for the holy water in his black jacket.

"That's a-." Damon sighed as Dean sprinkled holy water on his hand.

"I know." Said Dean, screwing the cap on and putting it away. "I was seeing if you were a demon-"

"They're real?"

"Lucky you. Black-eyed bitches are a weekly routine for me."

"Hey! Dean and company!" Gabriel shouted.

"So you're saying that Mystic Falls doesn't exist except here?" Matt asked. "That doesn't make sense!"

"My brother and I travel across the country and we have never hit Mystic Falls." Sam explained.

"I may have an answer." Said the Doctor, leaning against his TARDIS.

"Dude, there's vamps here!" Dean shouted.

Damon, Elena, Stefan, and Caroline looked up at Dean. They looked alarmed. "I think I can guess which ones." Clara said, grabbing a machete.

*flashback***

"So what are you guys anyway?" Asked Clara, looking at the duffles on the clear floor.

"Hunters." Dean said, catching Clara's eye. He smiled at her, his hazel eyes shining.

"What do you hunt?" Clara asked, sitting in the chair by Dean.

"Things that kill people."

Clara nodded, smiling. She took a strand of hair and started twirling it. She looked up into Dean's eyes. "Cool." ***

"Whoa, guys!"Sam yelled to the crowd.

"There's no such thing as vampires!" John whispered to Sherlock.

"After today, I have no clue." Sherlock replied.

Stefan got ready to pounce. The other vampires followed. Sherlock walked up to Stefan and got a good look at Damon and Elena. John put a hand on his forehead knowing what was going to happen.

"Based on your conditions I assume you've been drinking and by the way you look at her I suggest she doesn't want you and you're still fighting even though it's over."

Stefan's mouth opened in shock. The seven of them exchanged stunned glances. Elena looked at Stefan surprised and confused. Veins could be seen around Stefan's eyes. They started getting red.

"Thanks... For that... Sherlock." John said embarrassed.

"So I guess you really are THE Sherlock Holmes and John Watson." Bonnie acknowledged. "How'd you get here anyway?"

"Good question." Answered John.
