Bridget's POV

I was walking out of the woods after burying my child and had Brett's arm around my waist when I was met with the sight of my previous mate. Reese was standing there with his arms crossed and a strange look in his eye.

"Where is Micah?" he asked, looking accusingly at Brett. I growled at him and he glanced at me surprised.

"If you would have been around, you would know. You left my son all alone and this is your fault. You killed him!" I jumped across the few remaining feet in between us and tackled him to the ground. I was angry at him for leaving our sons unattended. If he had been there, he could have killed Derrick before he harmed Micah.

"What are you talking about?" Reese said from under me as he fought to keep me from hitting him. Brett was soon pulling me off and I felt fresh tears rolling down my cheeks. I collapsed to my knees and started sobbing. Brett went down with me and held me close, all the while glaring at Reese.

"Micah is dead. One of the wolves from the attacking pack killed him. Timmy is in the tent waiting on me. If you would have been there he would still be alive. You had to go gallivanting off somewhere and now our son is dead. What do you have to say for yourself?" I snapped at him, though not as vicious as before, this sounded hollow.

"No, you can't be telling the truth. I left him safe and sound in the tent. Timmy and he were supposed to fall asleep. Please tell me you're lying." He fell to his knees in front of me and held his face in his hands. I heard quiet sobs coming from him.

"Sorry to interrupt this weeping fest, but is one of you Bridget?" a haughty voice asked. I glanced up, wiping my tears and glaring at the kid in front of me. He looked no older than eighteen.

"What do you want, kid?" I added the last part just to get him back for interrupting us. My voice still sounded scratchy from the crying, but I still sounded threatening.

"Garret and Lily want to see you," he snapped, glaring right back at me. Reese looked up when Lily's name was mentioned.

"I was sent here to give them that message, what are you doing here Caleb?" Reese snapped at him.

"Lily was growing tired of you taking so long. Hurry up before she skins my hide too." He started walking, not even looking to see if we were following. In the end, we did follow him.

We were led to the center of the camp. Everyone, from both packs, was surrounding the two alphas. I was led to the center, but Brett and Reese were commanded to wait.

I looked nervously between the two alphas. I knew that I was innocent, but somehow I had to prove this to them. "You know of the crimes accused of you. What do you have to say for yourself?" Lily asked, breaking the tense silence.

I looked around, feeling all the glares of hatred penetrating into my very soul. "Bridget, we're waiting," Garret prompted. I looked at him and nodded.

"I know in my heart, and I know most of you think I am not guilty of this. I got water for my alpha and that was all I did. If I poisoned the water, as Derrick accused me of, why would I give the water to my alpha? It would kill him too. I would not be so stupid as to poison the water," I argued my case. I hoped that they would believe me. This was the only thing I could think to say. I looked around, trying to gauge the reaction from the opposing pack. Would they believe me?

"I can see your point, but I don't get why one of my pack members would lie to me. Do you get where I'm coming from?" Lily responded. Garret was nodding like he agreed with me.

"I don't think she did it, I actually think that Derrick did it. From what I've heard, I think that Derrick is using this girl as a con to get away with what he did." Everyone turned to look at the person speaking. I was surprised when I saw someone from Lily's pack. I had thought if it be anyone, it be someone from our pack.
