"I made pancakes!" Luna called from the kitchen, rousing Ginny from sleep.
"Mmph," she mumbled, rolling over from where her face had been mushed into the pillow and rubbing her eyes sleepily.
Stumbling across the room, she fished a random shirt out of the closet - it was one of Luna's, a baggy sweater depicting the Crumple-Horned Snorkack - and pulled it on before entering the kitchen.
"Good morning, love," Luna smiled from her position by the stove.
"M- m- morning," she yawned back, stretching her arms above her head.
"Geez, Gin, put some pants on," Hannah exclaimed as the ginger girl walked into the room, taking a seat at the small table.
Ginny blushed and tugged Luna's sweater down before dashing back into the bedroom her and Luna shared and slipping into some underpants and trackies.
"Hey Ginny," Neville greeted her as she flopped onto the couch, promptly lying down and closing her eyes.
"Morning Neville," she replied sleepily.
"Ginny, get up!" Luna demanded, striding over to the couch and straddling Ginny's waist.
"Go away Luna," Ginny muttered, reaching out to push her away.
Luna caught her hand and tugged her upwards, glaring at the redheaded girl she was on the lap of.
"Ginevra Molly Weasley, I made you pancakes, your favourite meal, and a Butterbeer Latte - you are not falling asleep on me," Luna said sternly.
Eventually, Ginny opened her eyes, looking up at her girlfriend. She brightened as she noticed how pretty Luna looked; dirty blonde hair in a messy bun, pancake mixture smeared on one side of her face, dressed in a casual white dress dotted with paint; her art outfit.
"You painting today?" Ginny asked.
Luna nodded and helped Ginny up, leading her to the table and pulling a chair out for her.
"These are really good, thank you," Ginny said with her mouth full of pancake, syrup coating her lips.
"You've got something..." Luna leaned across from her seat beside Ginny and kissed her.
Suddenly Ginny was wide awake, letting her knife and fork fall onto her plate with a clatter and cupping Luna's face with one hand, the other stroking up and down her back. Luna tangled her hands in Ginny's hair, streaking her long red curls with powdery white flour.
"All gone," Luna said softly, pulling away.
She licked her lips and smiled at Ginny whose eyes were still closed.
"No I think there's still some there," Ginny protested, cupping the back of Luna's head and pulling her close again.
Hannah and Neville exchanged fond smiles, holding hands under the table.
"Okay guys, I think it's all gone now," Hannah said in alarm as Luna slid onto Ginny's lap and the two girls pressed their bodies against each other.
"Sorry," they said in unison, turning back to their breakfast, cheeks as red as their swollen lips.
"Hey I'm going to hang out with Harry today, do you guys want to come?" Neville asked, glancing at each of them.
"Sorry, I'm going out with Hermione, something happened with her and Ron and she needs me to be there for her," Ginny replied.
"Oh no! Is she okay?" Hannah asked worriedly.
"Yeah, I think so, my brother's probably just being an idiot as usual."
"Well how about you and Harry just hang out then, sweetheart? I have some shopping to do so maybe Luna could come with me?" Hannah suggested, glancing at her boyfriend.
"Sounds good." Neville dropped a kiss on her forehead before scooping up his plates and depositing them in the sink. "I'll be off then, see you tonight."
Ginny checked her phone, her brow creasing.
"Everything alright, Ginny?" Luna asked in concern, placing a hand on Ginny's shoulder.
"Yeah... I better go, seems like the Hermione and Ron situation is worse than I thought. See you later."
Ginny got up and walked to the door but Luna caught her arm and pulled her back.
"Hold up, you're not even dressed yet!" She exclaimed, leading her girlfriend back to the bedroom.
Luna sat on the bed sketching as Ginny washed her face and changed into a tight white dress.
"Woah!" Luna said, eyes wide as she took in Ginny's appearance. Her long coppery curls were flowing down her back, she wore a figure-hugging strappy white dress, sky high heels and her mouth was slicked with shimmery lipgloss. "You look gorgeous! Remind me again why I'm not going out with you?"
Ginny laughed and grabbed a jacket from the wardrobe - one of Luna's faded denim numbers, patched with squares of multicoloured fabric - which contrasted greatly with her outfit but made Luna smile.
"Thanks. We're going to a bar to "drink away our sorrows" as Hermione phrased it, but knowing Hermione she'll have one sip of my Margherita and call it a day."
"Sounds like Hermione," Luna agreed, following Ginny into the kitchen. Hannah had retired to the bathroom her and Neville shared and they could hear the shower running.
"Don't hook up with any cute girls," Luna joked.
"Well that ruins my plans."
Luna shook her head and leaned up to kiss the taller girl.
"I have to go, baby," Ginny said, though she sounded disappointed.
"I love you!" Luna called as Ginny opened the door and walked down the hallway of the apartment block they lived in.
Sighing, Luna headed back to her bedroom to get her sketchbook, thinking of drawing her girlfriend in that white dress, but then she heard hurried footsteps and turned around. Ginny threw her arms around Luna's neck and kissed her hard and fast on the mouth.
"Luna," she said breathlessly, "I almost forgot - I love you too."
And then she raced off, leaving a smiling Luna staring after her.
