Ultraman: AKA, Red and white (and blue can be added to the mix) spandex wearing men who are as tall as a skyscraper, beating up kaiju with laser rays. EXPLOSION-

Ultraman was created in 1966 by special effects pioneer Eiji Tsuburaya. You may know him for the Godzilla movies, as he did the special effects for it.

Despite Ultraman having the first ultra-hero, Ultraman was second in the Ultra series. The first was Ultra Q.

What's so good about Ultraman? Well, first off, Tsuburaya created this. How is this significant? LOTS AND LOTS OF KAIJU WERE ADDED TO THE SHOW. There's even a monster which uses Godzilla's costume!

Second, once you see Ultraman's finishing move, you'll be doing this all day, every day (ok not that long, just sometimes)

This move shoots out a "one-hit" KO laser.

This is considered as one of the most popular toku shows ever (besides kamen rider and super sentai), spawning countless sequels, parodies, and spinoffs.

(Thanks wikipedia...)

The order of Ultraman shows:

8. Ultraman 80

9. Ultraman: Towards the Future (AKA Ultraman Great)

10. Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero (AKA Ultraman Powered)

Zero isn't up there because he doesn't have his own show (Ultra Zero Fight and shows that have him as a host doesn't count)

Ultraman Ginga S does count as an Ultra show, not a second season. Besides, Ginga had a second season (I think) before S was announced.

There are other obscure Ultras, such as:

Ultraman USA: OK WHAT?

Ultraman Zearth: The parody of all Ultras

Ultraman Nice: The Ultraman of all toy product commercials.

Ultraman the Next: The N project. First incarnation of Nexus.

Ultraman Xenon: The other Ultra that was introduced in Ultraman Max, also the appearance of the Max Galaxy

Ultraman Boy: It's Ultraman for kids. That's all.

Ultraman Neos: It's the first ultraman but with a green thing on the fin + some modified red chest piece.

Ultraseven 21: UltraSeven but slimmed down

UltraSeven X: UltraSeven but more on the rough side, red eyes instead of green

Ultraman Belial: JK everyone know him

Yeah that's it. Now for the Super Sentai introduction.
