Besides being a fan of Geometry Dash and Touhou, the other thing that I've been a fan of and the longest of is Tokusatsu.
What is tokusatsu? Well they are films or dramas that use special effects. There's your definition.
Oh you want more? Well they're very popular in Japan since they invented the whole thing. In fact, some toku shows have been localized in other countries, mainly the US.
Tokusatsu can have giant monsters (Godzilla, Ultraman) and superheroes (Super Sentai, Kamen Rider)
So why are they not popular all around the world? Because parents are like: oh they're violent, it's for kids.
In Japan: "yeah I get to watch my favorite superheroes on sundays!" buy transforming toys for 50 dollars!!!
There's more to talk about, but that's the basis of tokusatsu. Spandex wearing costumes that beat the living sh*t out of monsters with explosions.
Hope ya enjoy my toku book!
BTW Super sentai is the japanese equivalent for power rangers. But sentai was first as it was made in 1975. Power Rangers was 1993.
