SPOILERS BEWARE!!!
First off... That is how you do an adventure motif. You have a likable cast, mecha are cool, character developments (especially Masumi throughout the series), and portrayals.
Gaja is probably my favorite villain in Boukenger because of the way he acts, speaks, personifies, and pretty much how sinister he is despite his age. The thing I hate about him is the fact that he seals himself when his islands sinks. So he's pretty much not dead. He allowed himself to be defeated, which kinda sucks.
I was also surprised that a little girl (or I guess a 13 year old) was actually Mr. Voice. It's funny that the Boukengers still don't know who Mr. Voice really is despite them being with her for a couple episodes. Makino probably knows who Voice really is.
Although I liked the final episode, I still think Shinkenger's was the best. It has to do with the execution of the music. Shinkenger had an emotional feel when they were on the brink of being destroyed just for a suicide mission. Boukenger was way light hearted since the Boukenger theme was playing.
Also, Akashi literally converted the DaiVoyager to a Mega Voyager lol. I guess that's a reference to Megaranger.
I want to talk about the development of each character. Akashi, the Immortal Fang, has a tragic backstory, as his two teammates died during an expedition. Now he's destined to keep his whole team alive.
Sakura was part of JSDF (I think) and for a long time she was never taught to smile or be positive due to having a family of high nobility. It's thanks to Natsuki that she opened up her feelings a little more.
Natsuki was originally a Lemurian and was sealed by her parents to preserve her lineage. Her true goal was to live through life as positive as she can be. Natsuki is Natsuki.
Souta, originally a spy, joined the Boukengers because why not. He left the spy business after realizing he was potentially causing pain towards others. It seems like he can be a flirt in some degree, but he is highly skilled in technology.
Eiji is half human and half Ashu. His bloodline's destiny was to destroy the Ashu, but it is ironic since he's half Ashu. Through the guidance of Akashi, he joined the Boukengers after realizing adventures were his destiny.
Masumi, in my opinion, has the most interesting backstory ever. He joined a treasure hunting group, despite being abused by the members. After being ambushed by Yami no Yaiba, he sought revenge to defeat him. At first, he was reluctant to join Akashi and being called his codename, but overtime his character grew to be a openly decent person. The darkness in his still lingered throughout the series and it wasn't until the end of the series that it came back to bite him. For a couple episodes he left the team because of his actions, but came back to fight.
I'm also surprised that Boukenger had 4 villain groups, yes, FOUR, and somehow made them epic and not blandish. Toei did a great job balancing out their appearances.
Anyways, right now I'm starting on Gekiranger and I already expected Mele to be waifu material lol
