I had already told my brother that I would be going to Europe and that I wasn't sure if I would be coming back. He didn't really take me seriously and simply nodded as he pursed his lips just before pressing a foggy beer bottle to them.
I bit down on the inside of my cheek to stop myself from saying something and causing trouble when I would be leaving soon.
Levi hadn't said how long we would be there and if it were up to me, I wouldn't come back. Not to this place, not to this hole of a town and this rotting home that only reminded me of everything that was never mine to begin with.
Heading up to my room I quickly linked my phone to the little Sugar Cube speaker, Kevin had given me for my birthday last year and listened to my music as I pulled out the old suitcase which I hadn't seen practically since I came to this house. It was old to say the least.
Though, Levi did say to pack lightly but because I had little to no intentions of returning I packed the poor old suitcase with everything I could fit in it from my clothes to a couple pair of shoes and whatever else I could fit here and there between spaces.
Taking out my trusty old messenger bag, the same bag I had carried all throughout high school and deciding I would take that as a carry on. I slipped my most important items into the old 'Beatles' bag such as my passport, note book as well as my beloved sketchbook not to mention my wallet with what little money I had in it. I also made sure to throw in my pencil case and with that done that was really it.
I looked around my room. The plain white walls covered in posters I had collected through the years just as book covers I had torn off from hard cover books that didn't need them.
My room was small with a twin size bed, a small vanity my mom had put together for me after finding an old desk someone had tossed out as well as a single vanity mirror she found leaning against the dumpster of her friends apartment complex.
"Wish I could take you with me" I confessed in a whisper as I ran my fingertips over the smooth surface my mother had worked so hard to polish for me. A sad smile traced my lips as I looked at my reflection, I was a mess.
I always knew I wasn't as polished as, Levi or as well mannered as, Tess or even as smart as Kevin.
No... I was the wild card.
Tearing myself away from the mirror I looked towards my bed and leaped forward as I realized I was forgetting, Mr. Oinkers.
Cradling the hand-sized stuff pig with bunny ears I quickly debated if I should try and fit him into my luggage or just stuff him into my messenger bag.
I voted for the messenger bag this way I could use it as a pillow on the flight.
We would be leaving for Denmark in a matter of hours and I couldn't believe it.
I tried my best to keep quiet as I dragged my suitcase down the stairs which of course proved to be pointless as my brother, Benji came into view as he slipped out of the kitchen.
"What the fuck is this?" He asked, his voice holding a tone I hadn't heard before.
"I told you, I'm going to Europe, remember?" I said, as-a-matter-of-factually.
"The hell you are. You're telling me you're going to head out just like the rest of the little pricks mom put a roof over and leave me here?" He couldn't be serious could he?
