By the time the girls had gone back out to their own rooms dinner was less than two hours away and though all I wanted to do was open my bedroom door and skip my way into Carson's room I decided against that and took the chance to get ready first.
The sound of the woman on the TV was still very present in my mind and I didn't know how so many things could be happening under the same roof and yet it seemed like only one person really knew what was going on.
By the time I was finished getting dressed I still had plenty of time to maybe sit and try to relax but that wasn't happening. I looked my figure over in the mirror checking if maybe I needed to cover what felt like ten-pound weights under my eyes.
Surprisingly I didn't look nearly as bad as I felt and ended up only adding a bit of color to my lips and smoothing out the soft flow of my creme colored dress. It was simple but cute with a nice light tone contrasting with beautiful dark navy and royal blue flowers.
I was about to sit down when I heard my bedroom door open only to find the most handsome of faces peeking in before spotting me, a huge smile tracing his lips as he silently made his way over to me and taking me in his arms without a single word. It was perfect.
"I missed you" I muttered in all honesty, "Is that awful?" I laughed, looking up at him.
"Hmm... maybe. But then again I missed you too so I guess we can be awful together" he teased pecking the top of my head before giving me a playful wink.
I chuckled against his chest taking in his scent. It was crazy how accustomed to him I've become that even on a day like today when my best friends had finally come to join me and be a part of my 'new' life, I was still seeking him out.
"I'm going to talk to mother tonight" he muttered against my hair.
I pulled away just slightly but enough to look at him, "Oh?" I questioned, wondering which one of her many imprudences he would bring up.
"Yeah. If I go to speak with her just the two of us she will find ways around the subjects and somehow slither her way out of things. While during dinner there will be too many guests and though she'll try to save face it will be a lot more difficult with others around including father."
Carson sighed and I could feel his arms tightening around me. I hated that he was going through this and with his own mother of all people.
"Whatever happens just know I'm here," I smiled, "Always."
Carson and I stayed like this just holding each other for what felt like not nearly enough time.
We were making our way into the hall when Tesla and Gina stepped out of the same room and I could only assume Gina had helped Tesla with that side braid of hers. Tess loved doing different things with her hair and she could always afford to do them because her hair was so long and even when she cut it grew out so quickly.
Both Gina and I envied that because even though my hair was only a tad bit shorter I could never do much to it other than a messy bun, a pony tail, or just wear it down.
Gina's hair was just above shoulder length with a very subtle wave to it, the bright copper tone in her hair was beyond radiant as she glanced my way with those emerald green eyes just before flashing me a smile with those classic red lips she loved to sell. She'd gone with a high wasted paneled skirt and a burned red long sleeved top with a tie-neck neckline along with a simple pair of black satin ankle boots.
She looked adorably deadly while Tesla just looked all around adorable. She was wearing a dark navy blue sleeveless dress sporting a white peter-pan collar and a pair of simple white pumps.
