Chapter 1

I sat in biology staring at the clock. It was last hour of the day and spring break was 1 minute away. Tic toc tic toc. Mr. Evans was trying to cram his speech about staying safe over spring break into 40 seconds, he knew we weren't paying attention, but he kept on. I raised my hand. 30 seconds.

Cali: Excuse me Mr. Evans, but what exactly is the point of telling us to stay safe when most of us, well the normal socially active ones, will be partying and getting drunk, I mean we're all seniors and this is something you want to be able to look back on in the future and laugh about right? I thought high school was all about making memories to last a life time

15 seconds

Cali: It to me just makes no sense for you of all people to tell us to be safe and stay away from alcohol when I heard you got the Mrs. pregnant at a college varsity party when you were 19 in '89.

I raised my eyebrows and smirked as the whole class laughed. He just stared speechless at me for a while and the bell rang. I got up and walked out of the room with my books in my hands. I waited for Imani and Ariella to meet me outside of the class room. When they were both out we started walking towards Imani's locker.Imani: You are crazy, I would never, he is the king of detention Cali.

Cali: So what?!

Ariella: So what? What if he gave you spring break in his class room?

Cali: You guys think to much.

I walked in front of them and turned around to face them.

Cali: Anyway talk about spring break, are you guys ready?

We started walking again.

Imani: I honestly cannot wait to be alone in a room with Ayden.

Ariella: Whore!

We laughed as everyone in the hallway stared at us.

Imani: What you never seen a whore before?

She yelled at everyone staring at us and they all went back to what they were doing. We laughed harder and reached her locker where Hylind was waiting for us. Her bright hair making her easy to spot. She smiled super big and ran up to us.

Hylind: Omigod, this is going to be the best break ever!

Ariella: shssshh! We keep this undercover remember?

Hylind: Yes I remember, don't treat me like I'm stupid Ariella, who here's? Our parents? No. Isn't that who we're keeping this from? So why so stressed?

Cali: Because she's never lied to her parents before.

Ariella: shut up Cali.

Imani: awwwh someone nervous about lying to her mommy?

Ariella: shut up all of you!

Cali: whatever.

I said and smiled leaning against some lockers holding my books to my chest.

Hylind: This is the week to let go.

She said and leaned against lockers like me. Imani closed her locker and leaned back on it too.

Imani: Have fun.

Cali: Have something..

I smirked. Ariella leaned against the lockers too.

Ariella: Risk it all...

we sighed and looked into space.

Jai: You guys ready for this?

He said walking up with the rest the crew. Alecs came over and gave me a kiss putting his arm around me.

Cali: Ready.

Imani: Ready.

Hylind: Ready.

Ariella: As ready as I'll ever be.

We started walking down the hall, each one of us shoving our bag in our locker. Then it was off to the houses to say goodbye to our parents. First stop was Jai's house so he could get the key's to his parents beach house and his bag. Then Alecs, then Ariella in which I had to go in to make sure she didn't screw it up. Then Hylind, Imani,Ayden, and last me. My parents were sitting on the couch when I got inside. I went to my room and grabbed my bag. I walked back downstairs and down the hall to the livingroom.

Cali: Well I'm off, the crews all packed in the van and ready.

My mom looked at me sad and my dad put down his newspaper.

Mom: Awwwh baby, I don't know if I want you to go anymore.

Cali: But mom you said -

Mom: I know I know, come here.

She motioned for me to give her a hug and a kiss.

Cali: Bye dad

I said once I got out of the hug my mom put me in.

Dad: Have fun hunny, stay safe, call us if anything happens.

Cali: Okay, I promise.

I went over to the love seat where my dad was sitting on with his feet propped up on the coffee table and gave him a hug and a kiss.

Cali: Bye guys.

I waved one last time and picked my bag up

Cali: I love you guys, see you in a week.

I walked toward the door not looking back. You never look back. No regrets. High school is where you're supposed to make memories. When I got outside my house I ran to the car. And jumped in the middle row of the van seats. Jai in the drivers, Ariella in the passenger, me and Imani in the middle row and Alecs, Ayden and Hylind in the back. We had all told our parents the same lie. We were going to New York for a week on a school field trip, that we needed $500 dollars for a round trip there and back. Every one of them agreed and Jai played his parents so well as to ask each of them for the money. He's going to use $400 for gas and we're putting the rest towards food and attractions, and the concert put on by MTV at the end of spring break. The only thing left was not getting caught.
