The hours in the school didn't get longer but after seeing her like that it seemed like school went on forever. I couldn't find her at lunch, a couple of her friends say that they haven't seen her since this morning. I would have texted her like any other boyfriend would do. But I cant because my family can barely afford food.

It seemed wrong to call my mom and I a family, when neither of us acted like we were in one. We came home ate sandwiches and she usually went to her room after dinner. To anyone who asked I lived in a house with a mom who wasn't drowning in bills and pills. I smiled and acted like my life was perfect. The only people who knew the truth were Natalie, Matt, Jake , and Christina. And I know none of them would ever say a word about it.

With all of this, all I need to know is that the love of my life was going to be with me, that she was going to be okay. I didn't obsess over her like I've seen some guys do. I gave her space and freedom. I didn't pick her friends and I most definitely didn't make her do anything she didn't want to do.

After school I waited for her in my truck. I knew to wait a while because she likes to talk to her friends before she leaves. I looked up in the rearview mirror and saw her coming up from behind. I saw that she looked normal again. But she still seemed to be somewhere else.

              "Hey babe" I say.

              "Hey"

She leaned over and pressed her lips to mine. Our lips moved as if they were one. I moved my hand to cup her face and hers moved down to squeeze my thigh. I pulled back and pressed my forehead against hers. She looked up at my face, and her eyes declared nothing but love.

I let go of her and started the car. I drove out of the parking lot and raced towards my house. I wanted to find out what was wrong but I also needed her in a different type of way as well. I could tell she did too. She was staring out the window trying to hide her blush.

I pull into my driveway and turn the truck off. I look at her and I can see that she's staring at me. I open my door, slam it shut and run over to her side. I opened the door and helped her out of the truck. We walked hand in hand to the front door and I opened the door.

We walked in and I saw a shadow in the kitchen. I didn't know who it was because no one was supposed to be home. I let go of Christina's hand and walked slowly into the kitchen. As soon as I walked in I saw who it was and automatically lost my need for Christie.

                   " Hey kiddo."

"Why the hell are you here?"

It was my moms latest boyfriend. His names Jackson.

"I came here to wait for Nancy."

"Well she isn't going to be here until 6, you should go wait for her there. I didn't want you here to begin with. So please leave. I have Christina here and she doesn't want to see you . "

" But I want to be here so  don't kick me out. She told me to wait for her here, she said you wouldn't mind."

"No please leave I don't want you here and she shouldn't have told you to wait here. Go do what you usually do and wait for someone to ask you for crack."

" Fine but I'm coming back with her. And I'm going to tell her about your attitude."

" You're probably going to be surprised that I really don't care. Now leave before I call the cops."

" Fine, fine I said I'm going anyway. Plus I live here technically so they can't do anything to me anyway."

                  " Good bye."

At this point he stormed out and left me and Christine alone. I walked into the living room and saw that she was sitting on the couch. I grabbed her hand and walk up the stairs to my bedroom. Now that Jackson ruin the mood I was going to find out what was wrong with her.

When we got into my room I open the door and moved over towards the bed. I think she might have still been in the mood, because she skipped over to my bed and laid down. I grab her waist and drag her to the corner of the bed.

It's almost an hour but I finally got the truth out of her. Her grandmother was dying and she didn't want my help. But I could tell there was more but she wasn't telling me the full story. I drove her home around 4 and returned to an empty house. Tomorrow I was going to find a way to help her.
