Awhile back, I'd got back from church camp, and I decided to write about an encounter I had with the Holy Spirit. It was completely amazing, a feeling like I've never known. I spoke in tongues.I couldn't control my tongue at all, and it was almost like heat was rising all around me. I felt at peace. In accordance with this experience I wanted to talk about the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit does a lot of things for us, amazing things. He gives us the ability to speak in tongues. To speak in tongues means to speak in a language you've never spoken before. Previous before Jesus ascended into Heaven He promised to send the Holy Spirit down to earth to help us and live within us.
John 14:16-17
"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."On the Day of Pentecost, the disciples and a lot of other people were worshipping God and they were Baptized with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:3-4
They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."Now before you get all worried and anxious. You do not have to be baptized with the Holy Spirit to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is inside of everyone who believes in Jesus, The gift of tongues, or baptism of the Holy Spirit, is just another form of confirmation that the Holy Spirit is inside of us.
The Holy Spirit also enables and helps us to do a lot of things. Here's a list below:
The Holy Spirit guides us in our walk with Christ.
John 14: 26
" But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom
the Father will send in my name, will yeah you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you. "
John 16:13
"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. "Provided the power to tell other people about Jesus
Acts 1:8
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to
the ends of the earth"Help you to be bold and not be afraid
Acts 4:31
" After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly"Leads and directs when we have no clue what to do
Acts 8:29
"The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it."Acts 13:4
"So Barnabas and Saul were sent out by the Holy Spirit. They went down to the seaport of Seleucia and then sailed for the island of Cyprus."Acts 16:6
"Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia. "Acts 9:31
"Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers"Prays for us when we don't know how to or don't know the words to say
Romans 8:26-27
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.""As you can see the Holy Spirit helps us in a lot of ways. If you are wanting to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit just begin to ask God for it. And keep on asking, don't stop asking. For it the Bible it says, "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" Luke 11:9-10.
Lord, thank you, for Your power and Your gifts. Thank you for allowing us to see another day, and providing us the experiences and opportunities to experience your love. Help us to speak boldly as your witnesses. Love you Jesus! Amen.
