Previously in Bond between the Splits :-

“Zayn, take some demons with you. We’re leaving for Ice palace.” Caladrius said to Zayn who had hidden himself well in the shadows. In response he too only bowed and started gathering men for the task.

“It’s time!” Calladrius whispered to himself. Thinking about Rebekah, he stared at the clear sky now. Or more correctly at those eight planets which were also dancing travelling towards the Ice Palace.

Chapter 10

( Ice Palace )

“Lyra!” Caladrius clipped commanding voice boomed in the room where next phase of the ritual would take place.

Bending on their knees, the witches touched their hearts with fisted hand.

“Dark will exist till the end of Universe!” they said in unison. But only Lyra got King Caladrius’s acknowledgement. Caladrius calculative eyes were fixed on the witches’ queen.

“You lost your vision.” Caladrius stated.

“You’re always right my King” Lyra’s replied with no emotion. Gasps escaped from shocked faces. They had been here working with Lyra since the beginning. When did this happen? The question was running in the mind of the demons in the room. Soon everyone composed themselves.

No wonder the shocked faces over there didn’t surprise Caladrius. He knew already even those witches of her clan over here hadn’t figured out their queen’s blindness until he stated it himself. Lyra is a smartest witch he had come across. This is how she had managed to quit down several rebellions after the throne of witch world. Her X-factor is her unmasked urges to test her limits every once in a while. Sometimes it makes her and other times, breaks her.

“Haven’t you heard Curiosity killed the cat” Caladrius chuckled. Lyra smirked slyly.

“My King, other part of this story is this cat was curious enough but surely not strong to protect herself.” She said still bending on her knees. Though Lyra had reduced the burning pain in her eyes through her magic, yet it was red and puffy.

“And so are you, Lyra. Don’t try to solve him. Because it’s not you testing your limits, it’s him already extending his limts” Caladrius warned in a condensing tone. She further moved her head down in shame and embarrassment. Lyra is one of her trusted person. She had been nothing but devoted to the Dark world.

“On your feet now. We have some urgent tasks to complete.” Caladrius commanded.

Standing up she reported the King about Rebekah’s rapidly falling health and the unexpected white glow coming out of her stomach.

“White glow…” Caladrius spoke out loud.

‘This is unexpected’ his brows creasing with thoughts of it. All the while Rebekah’s falling health was hammering continuously in the back of his head.

“Get me to her” he ordered the blind witch. Leading the way, Lyra took him towards the north-east wing of the large room.

There lying Rebekah, naked and deadly immobile on a wide metal table. From head to toe, she looked devoid of any colour of life. The only glow from her body is coming from her stomach. For a moment, the scene made Caladrius halt his pace. His heart skipping every beat and he thought he might as well would have died before seeing her in a palpable position like this. Her skin was long deathly pale, but now the veins of her wrists, legs and stomach have turned reddish-purple, sweat heavily dripping out of her body, and her vanilla scent was replaced by a disgusting stinking smell. Unlike other pregnant women, her breasts now had no sign of existence like anorexic patient and had lost too much weight. Her extracted claws and fangs were what caused Caladrius to worry more. Rebekah being a vampire- werewolf hybrid can only use one of the Vampire-werewolf traits at a time. And letting this foetus extract life giving nutrients from her body resulted in simultaneously activating both the vampire and the werewolf characteristics in her.

The most vulnerable situation in one’s life is when your mind is telling you the reality yet your heart fights with every ounce of energy in you to remain in your own bubble of false happiness. And this what Caladrius has been doing for so long. He wants to believe that Rebekah could survive this. No matter how hard it is for Rebekah, she’s his fighter. She’s his little fighter who had been his rock support in difficult times. However, he also couldn’t ignore the fact that karma is a bitch especially for an evil like him.

“Will she…..” Caladrius couldn’t find in him to complete the question. He swallowed hard.

“She would definitely live until he comes out of her. Since he’s inside her, the thread of her life is knotted to Him, my King. But-” Lyra fidgeted in finding the correct words “- after that, the… the chances are low” Lyra answered honestly with her blank eyes set in the direction of Rebekah’s pale figure.

This truth is like scratching an ill-healed wound.

‘If you could understand how hard it is for me even breathe knowing you might leave me in mere amount of time’ the king thought wiping sweat droplets glistening on her forehead with handkerchief. He blinked furiously several times to hide the evidence of his sorrowing heart from his eyes.

“Rebekah…” he tasted her silk-like name on his lips.

Closing his eyes, he leaned over her supporting his weight on his hands over the table. Before the second stage shall initiate, he wants to stay like this and may be if he could, then stop the time here forever. He thought about the beautiful time when he first met her, their first kiss, the way his heart beat sped-up when they hug, their first mating, he thought about everything they shared. And he also remembered the last promise he made to her.

He must have to stay strong. This is what she wanted he determined with a sigh. He focused on breathing. Before, this natural reflex had been painfully unknown to do.

“I’m doing this for you” He said to Rebekah kissing her forehead.
