CHAPTER 23 - Dragon

She was waiting for the impact but it never came. Before she could collide against the thick irregular bark of the tree, someone grabbed her by arms and lifted her off. The sound of fluttering of wings filled the atmosphere, the fleeing dirt and dry leaves due to the sudden strong movement in the air clouded the girl’s vision. She could feebly make the trees moving by the strong impact of air with pinched eyes.

As soon as her feet left the ground, she dangled in the non-trustable, uncertain molecules of air; the world became a blur for her, the only thing her shocked mind could grasp is the dry ice cold knifes piercing her soft smooth skin efficiently stealing the moisture from it. The tear drops are leaking from her eyes sliding and trailing path for the new ones on her cheek. She could hear the loud roaring in the hazy atmosphere dominating the hissing sound of wind.

The constant slaps from the cold current of air brought her back to reality. Whatever thing is holding her kept flying piercing through the cold fluffy set of white streaks of clouds. Paridhi looked above her trying hard to see past the tears blurring her vision. With when she looked at, then only she realised the sharp canines attached to a strong wide muscled yet smooth paw on either side of her shoulders, grazing the skin beneath the thin material of her cloth. The skin of her captor looked like that of a snake or a reptile. The large set of black wings moved rapidly up and down, fighting with the airstream both fascinated her and send a shiver of fear to run straight to her core.

She wanted to scream out loud for her dear life but knew better not to anger the beast carrying her. What if she annoyed him or her, whatever that beast’s gender is and he throw her from this height. Or simply free her from his grip. She’ll be a mushy pile of blood, broken bones and flesh.

Grimacing at the mental image, she closed her eyes completely.

She’s going to die and she knew it!

All she wanted to do is screaming at the almighty for writing in her destiny to die falling from height or better may be from this creature!

She’s acrophobia, fear of heights in the past. She’ve overcome her fear but not fully and now held by a reptile that can fly and is flying at thousand feet above ground makes her cringe visible.

With a shaky breath, she did the mistake of glancing downwards and soon regretted it.

An audible gasp left her purple lips which got suppressed by the loud roaring and the airstream.

The reptile creature slowed down his speed. He stopped fluttering his winds but kept them extending. Soon the hazy sparkling of lights became tiny light dots of different colours. But that didn’t calm her racing heart.
