Chapter - Preparing for their arrival
Paridhi sat in her bathtub with her eyes closed in deep concentration. The steam from hot water made her soft skin glow with hint of red. Faint whisps of white light entered her body from surrounding.
Paridhi tried to channel the absorbed vital energy - qi, in her meridians again for the umpteenth time. Beads of perspiration mixed with water started flowing on her forehead and her entire body started to ache badly. To her, it felt like thousands of needles were piercing her body and the more she tried the more deep those needles went. Her head started to feel dizzy. Only then she laid down with her head propped up on the edge of the bathtub.
Exhaling in defeat, she opened her eyes to found blood oozing from each and every pore on her body making the water red.
"Angela!" Her stepmother shouted outside her bedroom door.
Oh no!
"Yes Luna"
"Why is your door locked?"
"I'm taking bath"
"How much longer will it take?"
"I... Maybe about half an hour or so" Paridhi answered trying to hide the exhaustion of her body seeping into her voice. "I have to wash my hair as well"
"Alright. Still make it quick. Your father summoned you."
"Yes Luna" Paridhi replied respectfully. She hated the woman's gut. Well, the feeling was mutual. But she was her Luna at the end of the day. Her father's wife. The female leader of this pack.
Sighing, she contemplated between procrastinating for a while (which will annoy that stepmother of hers) or ignore the burning in her core and exhaustion and start washing up.

"I didn't knew it was apocalypse."
"A joke told too many times is not funny anymore Lucas." Paridhi roled her eyes at the blonde male wolf.
"I might refrain myself from making it if you didn't looked like a zombie" Lucas remarked munching on an apple.
"Thanks" Pari replied dryly.
Here everyone was working. Even she got herself part of the kitchen duties thanks to her experiment cooking which most times turn fantastic. It wasn't like she tried to evade any duties in the meeting earlier which she was 'summoned' to. But apparently her father has very high praises for the food she cooks. if it was any other day, she'd loved to bask in the praises thrown her way. But not today. Definitely not today!
Cursing her luck and her decision to try cultivating today was the only way to release her pent up frustration.
If I was a werewolf, i'd have definitely beaten this food terrorist.
This glutton over here was just chilling while literally everyone was working. Everyone. Even the oldest lady of the pack was helping around and the laziest of them all was seting up the lantern in the yard.
Looking at Lucas was only making her blood boil.
Whether it was the feeling of being drained of energy or the awful sight of Lucas wolfing down the third loaf of bread with peanut butter, she wanted to hit someone or something.
"Why are you the only one who's not working, Princess" Paridhi vexed while chopping carrots.
"Haha easy there kitten.-"
"Don't call me that."
"-I'm not the only one who's not working" Lucas gave her a smirk.
"What do you mean?" she inquired casually.
"Your sisters" Lucas singed while grabing cookies jar.
"STEP" Paridhi corrected. A bitter feeling rising in her chest.
"Yeah yeah. They have long left for salon. I wonder why?" Lucas mocked in fake confusion.
"Oh why don't you ask them when they return." Paridhi replied in over the top cheery voice.
"Ah haa... they should learn from their elder sister. Such a bad behaviour. Weren't present at the meeting and most def not workin bro"
"What are ya tryin to do Lucas?" Paridhi stopped chopping and turned to look at him.
"Oh nothing much just wondering why are your sister getting dolled for the royals arrival and how you are here" Lucas pointed out with a mirthless laugh while looking at the sweating pale girl. Even in the blistering hot kitchen and in her messy self she was alluring.
"I don't feel the need for it." Paridhi said looking straight into his eyes.
