Chapter 25 - Sandy

Several pairs of eyes burning through her skin left her with unease like usual but Paridhi kept her calm façade. Her back straight and head held high as she walked through the stone pavement to the mansion beside Jake. She’d already changed into fresh pair of clothes, so was Jake. Paridhi’s hands were itching as her nerves set high. She so much wanted to forget what everyone around her will think, flip them and scratch her palms until the damn itching stops. But showing her weakness would be the last thing she needed in life. As a human child to one of the most dangerous and powerful demonic species, she was always held back, considered a weakling, pathetic, coward and the list was endless. She’s not a werewolf like her father, like everyone else in the pack and neither she’s an angel like her mother was. She remained stuck in the middle between evil and angelic. May be that’s why she’s a human.

With a long heavy sigh, she placed her foot on the stairs in front of the large impeccably crafted yet strong wooden – metallic door.

“Stay strong” Jake whispered lowly only for Paridhi to hear.

“Just… try to stay with me.” Nodding she whispered equally low to him.

If Paridhi could count on anyone in this pack then it would be Jake only. Not that she despised others but she’d encountered enough reasons to think that way.

The interior of the mansion speaks loudly the royal and eccentric taste of the owner. From the exorbitant paintings hanging on the white illuminated walls to ridiculously overpriced showpieces, from those velvety soft carpets to the expertly embellished fountain, all in all it was a sight for sore eyes. Everytime she visits the mansion, it leaves her feeling inferior. Not only that the place reminded her of old days, this renovated redecorated place once was her home. A small happy family lived in that small house. But things… changed.

“You took long, Angela” A blond haired lady with lean figured said glaring at Paridhi. Anyone could detect the venom dripping from her words. Everyone here had been ordered to approach Paridhi as Angela though why Paridhi didn’t know herself. All she knew is the order is passed down by her father to her step-mother to let everyone know his demand.

“Luna” Jake bowed formally to the blond women but she didn’t bothered to acknowledge him.

“I had… things to do.” Paridhi said carefully to her step-mother. She knew she’s walking on thin ice. Any wrong move and she’ll be in trouble.

“Like what?” Putting her hands on her hips, the woman further questioned glaring at Paridhi.

“Luna! Angela, Alpha demands to see you now” a teenage boy came rushing towards them and said while panting.

“Umm... okay” Paridhi said meekly. Thanking the boy inwardly for saving her from the Dracula’s granny.

“I’ll come with you” Jake said to Paridhi and then winked signalling that it was him who summoned the boy and she smiled in gratitude to him. Jake had always been caring to her. How much she wished it was her dad instead of Jake.

In her train of depressing thoughts she didn’t realise when she and Jake reached the Alpha’s office on the first floor.

Paridhi placed her hand on the doorknob, taking a deep breath she knocked from the other hand and waited for a ‘come in’ before twisting the doorknob. Pushing the door she stood at the threshold, her nerves kicking in at the sight of what waited inside the room for her.

“Come in Angela” Alpha said in clipped voice.

Gulping she made hesitant steps towards the large table which separated the wolf leader and his mundane daughter. Jake stayed right beside her all time but her only support system was snatched away from her pretty soon.

“You’re excused Jake” Alpha commanded him. Jake looked reluctant but he couldn’t surpass the alpha’s powerful words. Giving Paridhi an apologetic look he exited himself shutting the door on his way out.

“I assume you know him Angela” the alpha didn’t ask but stated jerking his head to his right.

Amelia looked to her left and all colour drained from her face. She could feel her pulse pumping all blood in her ears, in the pin drop silence she could clearly hear the loud beating of her heart and she’s sure even her father could smell her fear at the distance.

Smirking smugly at her was Sandy sprawled on the black leather sofa with an angry middle aged man in dark grey suit who looked awfully similar to Sandy. Despite the purple bruises and swollen cheeks Sandy was smirking arrogantly at her like he knows he had got her.

And Paridhi knew well that Sandy indeed have got her.

I know I know its short but I’m super busy with college and this week is considerably hectic. I hardly get any time. But as you see I tried my best to give an update. The next update I promise will be longer :D
