Chapter 44 - Hugs and Kisses

Lucius and Narcissa watched as Severus sat next to Aliah's bed and stroked her hair back. The Death Eaters and the Dark Lord left the Manor and Narcissa had sent Draco to bed while Bellatrix did whatever she did.

"Severus she has been like this for weeks now. I have done the best I can but I am afraid I do not know what else I can do," Narcissa said. Lucius wrapped an arm around Narcissa and brought her into his chest. He kissed her forehead gently.

"It's ok Cissa," Lucius whispered. Narcissa clutched onto his robes.

"I know you have Narcissa, and I thank you for that. You two have been there for Aliah when I haven't been,"

Severus took a breath and sang,

Severus kiss Aliah's forehead and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. Aliah's eyes fluttered open and a smile formed on her lips, "you took your time with that song,"

"Why is it that you always manage to fall asleep and I have to sing the lullaby to wake you? A lullaby puts you to sleep, not wake you up,"

"I'm a special child," Aliah chuckled. "And I do not fall asleep, somehow trouble manages to find me,"

"You mean you find trouble," Snape snickered

"Well it's one of the two," Aliah sat up and let out a hiss. Her stomach where Bellatrix had kicked her was sore and her back ached.

"Are you alright Aliah?" Narcissa rushed to Aliah's side

"Just sore. Why the hell did Bellatrix have to kick me so hard?"

"Aliah listen about your back-"

"ALIAH!" Draco ran into the room

"Draco your Mother told you to go to bed," Lucius growled

"I am. I go where Aliah goes," Draco hugged Aliah and climbed into bed with her

"Too tight. Can't breathe," Aliah gasped. Draco released her and kissed her deeply. Aliah pushed him back and turned to his Mother

"What were you saying?"

Narcissa looked at Lucius for support then back to Aliah, "my sister used the cruciatus curse and there are scars on your back, but Aliah," Narcissa placed a hand on Aliah's hand, "they will never go away they are for life,"

"Oh," Aliah turned to Draco who kissed her cheek

"You are still beautiful I don't care," he said

"Thank you Narcissa,"

Narcissa nodded her head and went back to Lucius

"I feel so weak as if all my energy is drained," Aliah sighed and leaned back into Draco's chest. He wrapped his arms around her and they interlocked their fingers and rested them on her stomach.

"I'll send food up, but get some rest. You too Draco," Narcissa said

"We will, thank you again for everything,"

"No worries Aliah," Narcissa pulled Lucius along with her and out of the bedroom

"Aliah you need to be careful now, more than ever," Snape warned

"I know Father," Aliah reached up to hug her Father, ignoring all the pain from her back and the stab wound her thigh. "I love you,"

"I love you so much. You remind me of your Mother, I can't lose you,"

"You won't lose me," Aliah reassured. Snape pulled back and placed his hand on her cheek and kissed her forehead again

"Be safe,"

"I will,"

Snape pulled back and stared at Draco, "you keep her safe, protect her,"

"With my life," Draco tightened his hug.

"With my life," Draco repeated.
