"So you and Penny sorted things?"
"Maybe. Time will tell I guess. Hi baby" Sofia runs into Callie's legs after Callie follows me into the lounge
"Hi Mommy"
"Did you have fun with Mama?"
"Yea! Eliza came over too. She made me pancakes"
"Did she? That was nice off her"
"Yea"
"So did you and Eliza fix things?"
"We did" I smile softly. "I'm sorry and thank you. For calling her. I know it would've been hard"
"What I did was wrong. I shouldn't have put you in that position. Not after walking out on you like I did. Calling her was easy. I know she makes you happy. And you sacrificed your happiness, you let our daughter fly across the country to be with me while you stayed here. And I don't know how you did it, but I can do this. I can give you want you want, I can let you be happy, even though it's not with me. I know that now. If she makes you happy then I can accept it and I'm moving on"
"Thank you Calliope. She does make me happy. But I am really sorry"
"Don't be. I just want you happy Arizona. Just be happy"
"That's what I said to you before you left"
"And I didn't listen. Not really. If I did I wouldn't have left. I would have kissed you right there and begged for you back if I had known"
"Being honest, I was hoping for it"
"So why let me go?"
"You had to make that decision for yourself" I smile "And you did. It may not have been right but it's what your heart wanted at that moment. So now you have to think long and hard about what you want now. Don't stay with Penny because you feel like you have to. Do what feels right by you and by Sofia. Follow your heart Callie but not to me. I may always love you but we both know we're over. We were kidding ourselves since I cheated on you"
"I know. I know that now at least. You really are a good man in a storm, Arizona"
"I'm anything but, Callie. I was once. Until the day I ruined you. Us. Me"
"Mistakes were made. From day one. You didn't ruin us. We both did"
"Mama can I have an Apple please?"
"Sure sweetie, there's some on the counter" Sofia runs into the kitchen. "Can you bring her around for an hour or two tomorrow? Mom and dad are coming around"
"Yea sure, just let me know when" I smile softly and hug her.
"Thanks" I mumble before pulling away
"It's OK. We should get going, Dad made dinner reservations for us"
"Nice, is your Mom-"
"She's not my mom. My mom died the day she walked out of that apartment"
"Sorry"
"No, I am. I shouldn't have snapped"
"It's OK" I squeeze her arm before turning towards the kitchen. Sofia walks out with a drink of juice and an Apple. "Drink your juice baby. You gotta go get ready to see Abuelo"
"I don't want to go. I want to stay here, with you and Eliza"
"Mommy is going to bring you back tomorrow to see us and Grandma and Grandpa will be here too"
"No"
"Sofia, you haven't seen Abuelo in a while"
"I don't care. He hates me"
"No he doesn't Sweetheart. Come on, what's going on?"
"I'm not going. I hate Penny"
"Penny isn't going to be there" Callie says softly.
"I don't care" Sofia runs out and up to her room, the door slamming shut.
"She always comes back from yours with an attitude"
"So you're blaming me? Maybe it's because she doesn't want to be near the woman who took her from her mother. Ever think that you could have hurt our daughter by you choosing the redhead over this messed up family?"
"I'm not arguing. I'll go get her"
"No. We aren't forcing her to go. She wants to stay, she can. If she wants to go tomorrow than you can pick her up. Just go enjoy your dinner and call Sofia later"
"We're not letting her do this. She's 6 years old, she will do as I say"
"No. You will listen. I have full custody and I will use it if I have to. She can stay another night, I will talk to her and if she changes her mind tonight I will call you. Otherwise you can come get her tomorrow"
"You are unbelievable. She is my daughter!"
"Don't start this again. She is my daughter too"
"Babe, the doors unlo- oh, sorry" I look up at Eliza.
"Don't be. Callie was just going" I say, forcing a smile onto my face. "I'll see you tomorrow. Unless she changes her mind" Callie rolls her eyes but grabs her bag and leaves. "Hi"
Eliza smiles softly and puts her bag down before moving over to me.
"Hi. Did I interrupt?"
"Thankfully, I was two seconds away from using the custody against her. I want to hear about your shift and everything but right now I need to be a mom. Give me 10 minutes?"
"Take as long as you need, as she needs. I'm just going to jump in the shower and probably crawl into bed. I'm exhausted"
"OK, thank you" I kiss her cheek and she smiles, squeezing my arm. "I will wake you for dinner, yea?"
"Please do" She heads upstairs and I sigh, pushing my hands into my back pockets, throwing my head back. I follow in her foot steps but enter Sofia's room instead of carrying on down the hallway.
"Hey Pumpkin. Mommy loves you and she said if you change your mind tonight then you can go home"
"Can I move in with you? I hate Penny"
"Just the other week you felt differently. What happened?"
"Nothing, I just want to live with you" I join her on the bed and pull her into my arms.
"I will talk to Mom tomorrow, you are allowed to change your mind at any time though, OK?"
"Thank you"
"Of course Sof" I kiss her head. "But, you'll have to apologize to Mom tomorrow about before. It wasn't cool Sof. She loves you, Abuelo loves you"
"I know"
"Good" She holds my arm that's secured around her waist "I love you too"
"I love you Mama" She curls into me and I brush her hair with my fingers.
