"Say goodbye Sof"
"We just got here"
"Sofia. Say goodbye"
"No. I want to stay with Eliza"
"Sofia Robbins Sloan Torres you will do as I say" I growl softly yet firmly. Eliza glances at me and sighs, crouching down to Sofia's height.
"I'll be home soon. Just a few more days"
"You always argue. Is it because of me? Moms broke up because of me"
"No. It's not because of you and you had nothing to do with Mom and Mama breaking up sweetheart. I'll call you tonight before you go to bed"
"Don't" Sofia stomps off and I sigh, looking at Eliza.
"I just- let me know what happens" I settle on, not knowing what else to say.
"Like you care"
"Eliza-"
"Just go" Eliza shuts Frankie's door on me and I sigh again before going after Sofia before she disappears on me.
She glares at me as she enters the elevator and I sigh, pressing the ground button.
"Sof- Sof look at me" I crouch down, grabbing her arm gently and turning her to me. "I'm sorry, I know you want to stay here-"
"So don't leave!" She pulls out of my hand and tries to move over to the corner. "I want Eliza" I grab her arm and spin her back to me.
"Maybe but right now you will listen to me. I am your mother, and we are going home"
"I hate you" She pulls out of my hold again and falls backwards, landing on her bottom. She pushes herself up, slapping my hands away. "Don't touch me" She wipes her tears away, moving away from me
"Sofia"
"I will scream"
"Don't be stupid. Let's go"
"No!" I climb off the elevator, thinking she'd follow before the door closes but she doesn't. The door shuts as she hits a button and I smack the button, trying to open the door. I sigh and move over to the stairwell, hoping to beat the elevator.
It gets to the 4th floor before I do and I see her disappear into Frankie's room. Just what I need.
"Sof honey you have to go with Mama"
"No! She isn't my mom" My heart breaks at Sofia's words and I lean against the wall out of view of Sofia and Eliza, sliding down it. I bury my head in my knees and arms as tears start to form in my eyes.
Where did I go wrong?
"Hey" Eliza says softly, a few minutes later "She's asleep" I nod and she sits down, pulling me into her arms. "She loves you"
"Not what I heard. She said it herself Eliza. She hates me and I'm not her mom"
"She didn't mean it and you know it. Sofia doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She could never hate you" I sob into her neck as she rubs my back slowly. "She's lucky to have you as a mom Arizona. You are the best mom that I know and Sofia is just hurting, confused and exhausted. You both are"
"Why are you here? You hate me too"
"I could never hate you Arizona. I may be angry at you but I'm not going to just watch you sit here hurting. I love you so freaking much, so our problems aside, you both need to sleep and then talk"
"I'm sorry"
"I know, I am too baby, let's just get you and Sofia into a proper bed so you can get a good night sleep. If you still want to leave tomorrow, I will take you to the airport myself" I nod and she kisses my head. "I'll grab Sofia and let my mom know I'm leaving"
"Apologize for me? I didn't mean to cause a scene around them"
"It wasn't your fault, don't worry about it. It was Veronica who caused it" She goes back into the room and I sigh, forcing myself up onto my feet and re-doing my hair, waiting for Eliza and Sofia
Eliza joins me with a sleeping Sofia and I sigh sadly as we head down to the elevator.
"I've caused her so much pain"
"That's just life Arizona. She's going to get hurt"
"It shouldn't be because of me though, I'm meant to protect her"
"And you are. You protected her when Penny hurt her. You've protected her from day 1"
"Day 1 she nearly died because I crashed into a truck"
"That wasn't your fault"
"I wasn't paying attention to the road"
"It wouldn't have mattered. He was drunk, driving a massive truck and he fell asleep behind the wheel. He could have been right beside you when he drove onto your side. You can't control that" She takes my hand and kisses it. "It wasn't your fault Arizona, she doesn't blame you"
"I blame me" I pull out of her hand and leave the elevator, walking towards the entrance.
"Arizona" She sighs, nodding in the direction of her rental
"Can you just drop us off at the hotel?" Eliza sighs loudly as she puts Sofia in the back seat and I climb into the passenger seat.
"You can stay at mom's you know" She says once she's in the driver's seat
"Our stuffs already at the hotel"
"You're staying at your ex wife's father's hotel-"
"Do you know of any other hotel in Miami? I don't like it either but I can't keep Sofia away from her family"
"And I'm not asking you to. I just don't like that he can get to you"
"He's not going to do anything to me, he might not like me but he loves his family. He could never hurt them which means I'm safe"
"Because she still loves you"
"Don't. She knows we're over. Move on from that Eliza. I chose you"
