Juliet moved her phone aside, ignoring Clair's call for the third time now. She needed to collect her thoughts and let the warmth of her cappuccino comfort her before she'd answer that call. The email she received that morning had been clear, Clair had another assignment lined up for her, something she dreaded. She knew she could easily refuse, telling Clair she needed time to herself after pulling an all-nighter on that interview she needed within a few days. But it would be an excuse. So she was conflicted.
"Can I get you anything else?"
Juliet glanced up, meeting the young waitress' gaze, "Some water, thanks."
Stretching in her chair, Juliet glanced around the coffee shop. It had been quiet when she sat down at her usual table that morning, but it was nearing noon now and the place was crowded. Leaning back in her chair she focused back on her email, wondering what to do with her next assignment. When her phone rang once again she sighed and sucked it up, answering it rather rudely.
"Yes?"
"That's how you answer your phone?" Clair demanded to know.
"It is when people don't get the hint. I was still reading over your email, Clair."
"And I figured you'd come up with an excuse to get out of it, so that's why I'm calling."
Juliet had to admit that Clair knew her well. The woman was a fox.
"That interview I did was rather last minute Clair." She reminded her.
"I get that, but this is something you don't want to pass up."
Juliet thanked the waitress who brought her a glass of water and placed it next to her empty cup of coffee.
"You said that about the interview as well yet I don't feel like anything has changed."
"A lot has changed!" Juliet pulled the phone away from her ear, trying to get her hearing back after that shout from Clair, "Dustin personally requested you be present during the photoshoot. Said something about you two getting along well, he trusts you to make him look good for the cover."
Dustin was a liar, but not a lot of people got away with things he got away with. Being a charmer on top of that while looking like a rock god made him a very dangerous opponent.
"He trusts me to run the photoshoot, is that what you're telling me? Because if I'm just there to look pretty for the rockstar you can call someone else. Maybe an escort?"
"You have a dirty mouth, Juliet." Clair sounded more amused than upset though, "Fine, I'll give you the lead. Just don't screw it up."
"That means you're paying me more than usual." Juliet reminded her.
"Yes." Clair agreed, not sounding happy about that, "So we have a deal then?"
Juliet smiled, "Of course. Send me the info and I'll make sure I'll be there and make the rockstar look good."
Juliet ended the call and focused on getting some work done, replying to emails and setting up her schedule for the next few weeks.

Juliet dropped her bag on the couch and walked into Chloe's kitchen, watching her friend pull out some plates, forks and knives.
"Help me out, would you?"
Juliet grabbed one of the plates and placed the knife and fork aside. Chloe filled up her plate with lasagna and green salad and then moved aside letting Juliet fill up her plate as well.
"I'll set up a movie."
"Sounds great." Juliet called over her shoulder.
She left her plate on the counter and poured them the wine Chloe had chosen for the night. She walked out the kitchen, placing their glasses on the coffee table and headed back to the kitchen to grab her plate. Once settled on the couch she took a bite from the delicious smelling lasagna.
