Iris asked me to go with her to see her mother Francine she told me she needed her little sister there for support. Well more support Joe/dad is going to be there. Me and Iris entered Jitters and walked over to Joe and Francine. "Hey, baby's." Joe said hugging us. "Hi, Dad." Iris replied. "Iris... this is Francine." Joe told her introducing her to her mother. "Hello." Iris said simply. "Hi. Hello, Iris." Francine said taking Iris's hands. Iris pulled them away from her and things got a little awkward. "Can I get you a coffee or something?" Joe offered. "Um, no, thanks. Let's just sit." Iris said as I sat next to her. I held her hand and gave her a loving smile. "I can't get over what a beautiful young woman you've become. And a journalist? I'm so proud of you." Francine gushed. "Why are you here? Why now, after two decades?" Iris asked with a little anger in her voice. "I want to make this right with you." Francine replied sisterly. "How about you start by apologising for walking out on us?" Iris said coldly. "I am sorry, so very, very sorry. There's so much you don't know." Francine started. "I'm sure that you've been through a great deal, and I can appreciate you feeling like this is suddenly the right time for you to want me in your life, but that doesn't mean that it's the right time for me." Iris started telling her what she thought. "Iris..." Joe started. "No, Dad, it's okay. I've thought about this a lot, and it wasn't fair for me to make you the bad guy." She told Joe. She turned back to Francine "So I want you to hear this from me. I don't hate you, Francine. I do wish you well, but we have lived separate lives for over 20 years. Let's keep it that way." Iris told her as she went up to the counter to get something well to calm down. "So who is this?" Francine asked gesturing to me. "I'm Bethany I'm Iris's sister." I told her trying to remain calm. She looked at Joe shocked thinking I was his biological daughter. "She's not my biological daughter Francine." Joe told her. She sighed in relief. "Beth let's go." Iris said taking my hand. I turned to Francine and told her a little angry at her. How could she leave an amazing person like Iris. "I may not be Iris's biological sister but I love her more than the world itself I'd do anything for her can you really say the same." Then we left.
Iris and I were walking down the street. "Bethany when are you coming home?" Iris asked wanting me to come home. "I don't know." I said with a frown. "Well I hope it's soon me and dad really miss you it's not the same without you, and I know Barry misses you." Iris told me. I scoffed "Barry doesn't miss me he thinks I'm dangerous." Iris sighed "you know the last few nights I've heard Barry cry in his room holding a picture of you and him, it is your favourite picture the one of you at 5 and him at 15. He keep saying that he needs you back." Maybe he is really sorry for what he did. But I can't go back knowing he thinks I'm dangerous. "I don't kn-" I was cut off by Iris saying "you don't have to decide now but I want you to know the house isn't the same without you Beth you keep it lively." I don't know what to do. What would Granny Allen tell me.
