Chapter 1: Acceptance
I was best friends with her, until she left me. She left to go somewhere, without saying good-bye, or even telling me a reason why she left. She just went. . . Not untill summer came back around and she reappeared. I wanted answers, but she never did tell me. All she said was that she went to a new school. She used to tell me everything. We told each other secrets and had sleep overs. Then she was leaving again. . . .
After that summer ended, she said she had to leave "early" or whatever that meant. I knew I was going to miss her, of course I would. She was my best friend. But I definitely knew something was up. Something she was keeping from me. I didn't understand why she would keep it secret, she never has. or has she?
I sat miserably in my room again, watching the hours go by on my old alarm clock. Two hours and forty two minutes have gone by.
This would mean I would have to deal with another year of her gone. I hated it. I hated the feeling of not knowing how she was, where she was, or even knowing if she missed me at all. What was so important? Certainly this school or whatever was not something I liked. I just miss her so terribly much. . . .
Where are you, Hermione?
I sighed and got up from my twin sized bed as I walked out of my room and down the stairs. I wanted her to write to me; tell me how she was doing, to know if she remembered. I guess not, sadly.
Today was my birthday and I was waiting for the mail man to get here. Only five more minutes left, and he finally came, putting some letters into our mailbox. I hoped a would get a letter from her!
I opened the front door of my house and ran outside not even caring that it was raining. I opened the slot and took out all the letters. I ran back inside and shut the door. I was completely drenched in cold water. I shrugged it off, not caring as I looked through the letters.
Bills, bills, letter from my grandma, more bills, letter for me with a royal stamp, and an ad magazine. Nothing from Hermione. I huffed in outrage and threw them all down at the wooden coffee table. She really did forget! Either that or she really doesn't care, which I really didn't want to think about it.
I glanced right back at the letter, then the one with the weird stamp that you would only see for those "important" people. Hesitantly, I picked it up and looked at the front. It was in neat, printed writing. It had my name on it and everything.
I turned it over and looked at the seal. It looked so fancy that I just didn't want to ruin it. But, alas, I had to. I carefully opened the envelope and took out the letter. There was no money inside, darn.
I stretched out the paper and tried to take out all the creases. Stupid OCD. . . . Once finished, I began reading.
