Chapter 9: I Tried To Tell You
"Professor, I swear I didn't -" Harry tried to say.
"This is out of my hands, Potter." Professor McGonagall said.
"But we just found them lying there, and then Peeves -"
"I said that is out of my hands, Samus." She interrupted me.
"But -"
"Enough!" She spat and I squeaked in fear, knowing from know on to keep myself quiet as we walked to the Headmaster's office. We walked in silence as we reached a gargoyle. "Lemon drop," she said and the gargoyle came to life and moved out of the way as a wall split into two. I gasped in awe. That was so amazing!
We were taken up an escalator-thing and we finally arrived to Dumbledore's home at the very tippy top of the place. We stepped off the stone staircase and Professor McGonagall knocked on the door. The door opened slightly and we walked inside. She then told us to wait and then left us alone in the room. But we weren't completely alone. A phoenix was stood on a golden perch, but it didn't look alright at all. It was going to die.
Harry suddenly lifted the Sorting Hat from the desk as if he was about to put it on his head. "Harry, what're you doing?" I asked but he didn't reply as he put the hat on his head and the hat covered his eyes. What is that neanderthal doing? After a few seconds, he removed the hat from his head and put it back on the desk.
"You're wrong," Harry said.
"What on earth are you talking about, Harry?" I asked and he looked at me with concern. He shook his head at me and told me it was nothing. It sure didn't look like nothing. He then looked at the phoenix that I was looking at earlier. It then burst into flames and turned into ashes. The office door then opened and Dumbledore soon came in.
"Professor, your bird - I couldn't do anything - he just caught fire -" Harry tried to explain. I giggled at his foolishness as he did not know it was a phoenix.
"About time, too. He's been looking dreadful for days; I've been telling him to get a move on." Dumbledore said with a chuckle.
"Fawkes is a Phoenix, Harry. Phoenixes burst into flame when it is time for them to die and reborn from the ashes. Watch him. . ."
We watched as the baby phoenix poked it's way out of the ashes. It looked rather ugly, but adorable at the same time.
"It's a shame you two had to see him on a Burning Day. He's really handsome most of the time, wonderful red and gold plumage. Fascinating creatures, phoenixes. They can carry immensely heavy loads, their tears have healing powers, and they make highly faithful partners." Dumbledore said.
"I think he's still adorable as a new born, though." I said. Suddenly, the door flew open to reveal Hagrid as he still had the rooster in his hand.
"Hagrid, what're you doing here?" I asked.
"It wasn' Harry, Professor Dumbledore!" Hagrid said urgently. "I was talkin' ter them seconds before those kids were found, he never had time, sir -" Hagrid was waving the rooster wildly around.
"- it can't've bin him, I'll swear it in front o' the Ministry o' Magic if I have to -"
"Hagrid, I -"
"- yeh've got the wrong boy, sir, I know Harry never -"
"Hagrid!" Dumbledore said loudly that it made me jump. "I do not think Harry or Aquila attacked those people." I sighed in relief.
"Oh. Right. I'll wait outside then, Headmaster." Hagrid said. He walked outside the office looking rather embarrassed.
"You don't think it was me, Professor?" Harry asked.
