Chapter 12: The Riddler

Tonight was the night I was finally going to have a look in the diary. I tried to get all thoughts off of Draco and just write in the diary like it was mine. There was nothing in the pages anyways when I checked them. So, why was Ginny so worried?

Pansy and Millicent were already asleep so I didn't hesitate to open the diary and begin to write. I thought about putting an introduction.

Hello, my name is Aquila Samus. I am 12 and I go to Hogwart School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Apparently, I'm in the Slytherin house here, and it's rather. . . . Amusing, I suppose.

I took a second to think about something else to write but before I could, the ink on the pages sunk into the sheet and disappeared, leaving me awestruck. Suddenly, words appeared as it replaced my cursive writing. I was flabbergasted by what I was seeing right in front of me onto the paper.

"Hello, I am Tom Riddle. How did you come by my diary?" The words then faded away and I began to write again.

"It was flushed down the toilet who had this diary last. I believe you know Ginny Weasely then? I figured it was her."

He then was saying something about his memories being recorded. It seemed like he knew about what was going on here right now. Hm, that's curious.

"So do you know anything about the Chamber of Secrets?" I asked. He then replied as if he had seen the exact same thing that has been happening now. It was quite incredible like this if you ask me.

"That's quite remarkable. It's happening again now. Several attacks and my friend and I have been doing some research. I don't know who, but it almost got to me when I was checking up on Harry Potter since he broke his arm. Stupid Professor Lockhart was being a complete neanderthal to fix it himself. Ha, he never seems to know what he is doing."

"Ah, so a Slytherin is a friend of the famous Potter, I see?"

"Yes, he's like a brother to me. But the thing is, I'm the nice Slytherin around here. I'm the only one to seem to care enough about what's going on around here. Who knows who else could end up in the same state as everyone else?" I said.

"Well, I suppose that's alright. Everyone is different, good or bad." Tom said.

"Alright then. So, do you mind if I tell you a secret?" I asked.

"Go right ahead," he said.

"Sometimes, I think that most of my friends will forget about me. I don't know why, but I've just held in this feeling like I would do something terrible and they would all turn their backs. I don't know how I know this, but it's just there like it's eventually going to happen. I don't know when, but I know it will happen. I don't know if I could prevent it from happening or such." I said.

"Hm, you never know."

"True, true." I said. "I just don't know if I should do something about it. After all, most Slytherin's look down upon me because my mother is a Squib and my father can hardly do any magic. A lot of professors and even Professor Dumbledore thinks that I'm an excellent witch and that I have the power to do great things if I want to. I don't know what he means by that, though. It must have something to do what's going on, though. I'm not entirely sure."

"It'll come in due time, I can promise you that." Tom said which caused me to smile.

"Thanks, Tom. You know, you're not so bad after all. You seem pretty cool; I like that." I wrote and I swore I thought I heard a chuckle from the papers.

"Why thank you, miss Samus. The pleasure was all mine. But, darling, please get some rest. I believe you have a big day tomorrow." Suddenly, I felt really tired, but I wrote down something before I drifted to sleep.
