"Storm, if you're still unpacking and can't make it down for lunch, there are groceries in your fridge waiting to be cooked, as well as an abundance of Hawaiian pizza," Lola Storm's voice came through the intercom.
I had already finished unpacking. I had neatly hung up my clothes and arranged everything else in its proper place. I hadn't brought all my belongings since I knew Lola Storm very well. I anticipated that this room would be equipped with most of the things I needed. Lola Storm was indeed a shopaholic.
"Storm, are you there?" she asked again through the intercom.
Her using my name felt like she was addressing herself. I wasn't in the mood to press any buttons, descend the stairs, or even speak at the moment. My energy was focused solely on consuming the pizza she mentioned.
"I'm awake, Lola," I informed her.
Making my way to the kitchen, I opened the fridge and retrieved the Greenwich pizza. After placing it in the microwave, I patiently waited for it to heat up. Five minutes later, I pulled the box out of the microwave and settled onto the white couch in the living area of my room. A flat-screen television hung on the wall in front of me, so I decided to watch something while eating.
I had discovered that the television could be controlled with hand gestures for changing channels and other functions. It could also be turned on and off using voice commands like "on" and "off." Modernization had its perks.
Currently, I was engrossed in watching "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" when an unexpected intruder entered my room. It was none other than Luke Reign.
"What?" I asked, somewhat irritated.
"I want some pizza," he said nonchalantly, grabbing a slice from my hand and taking a bite.
The word that best described this guy was "unbelievable."
"That's mine," I exclaimed, my annoyance growing.
"So what?" he retorted, plopping down beside me. "Welcome home."
"What the hell?" I couldn't believe his audacity.
"You're a woman, right?" he asked, almost as if he were questioning my gender.
I gave him an exasperated look. Was he being serious?
He smirked, almost as if he were enjoying the interaction. "Then stop cursing, or else."
"Or else what?" I challenged.
"Or else I'll clean those sexy-looking lips of yours with mine," he said with a mischievous grin.
"Jerk," I hissed.
"Isn't it awesome? The infamous young woman who always wears a poker face in public is actually quick to anger. Oh, and you're a crybaby too—" he began.
Before he could complete his sentence, I interrupted him. "Get out of my room. You're invading my privacy."
"It's not like you're hiding anything in here," he smirked.
He leaned closer, and I could feel his minty breath on my neck. "Or anyone," he whispered in my ear.
"Get away from me," I demanded, pushing him with force. However, his strength and firm chest meant my attempt was futile.
"Just ask me if you want to touch my chest," he said, that smirk still present.
He continued smirking as if he were enjoying himself too much.
"Out," I repeated firmly.
"Just give me a second," he replied, and with a swift motion, he was now standing shirtless in front of me.
I couldn't help but gaze at his perfectly sculpted abs for a brief moment. When I redirected my attention back to his face, he was grinning.
"Show-off," I hissed.
"You're hurting my ego," he chuckled.
"You've returned, and you're not a guest anymore. We live under the same roof, so we might as well get to know each other, right?" he suggested.
I rolled my eyes at him and decided to simply ignore his presence. We watched the movie together, and he used my lap as a pillow.
"By the way, Lyn, you look like a cute pumpkin when you cry," he commented.
"Can you stop? Why are you even here?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
"I'm tired."
"You're tired, and you decided to ruin my day?" I countered, arching an eyebrow.
He groaned but didn't answer.
"Let me sleep."
What an unbelievable stranger.
