"You love me?"
I opened the car door, ready to step out, when he seized my arm, forcing me back into the seat. The engine roared to life, and he sped off with such recklessness that I had to buckle up; otherwise, I might have been thrown about like a ragdoll as the car careened.
"Are you trying to get us killed!?" I yelled over the engine's roar.
"I'm not!" he shouted back, then abruptly parked the car.
He's always walking out on me.
"Hey!" I called after him as he got out of the car, but he continued walking away, infuriating me.
How dare he?
He already knows I love him.
How can he just walk away like this?
I climbed out of the car and started walking, wiping away tears as I went.
"I'm sorry," I heard Luke Reign's voice behind me.
I turned to find him, looking sinfully handsome in all his living glory.
I should be angry with him.
"I love you," he declared.
"But you walked away from me!" I yelled, my voice cracking as I stomped my foot, tears streaming down my face.
"Fuck it," he muttered, closing the distance between us and pulling me into a tight embrace.
"I walked away because I didn't know what to do. Learning that you love me too makes me feel like the luckiest bastard alive. I thought you were still in love with that Tyler," he whispered into my ear.
"Papa Keith told me about you, he told me a lot about you," he continued, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to my forehead.
"I love you, Pumpkin. I truly love you."
