"You love me?" I mumbled into his chest, unable to believe what I had just heard.
We slept at his room after last night's incidence
"Yes, I love you," he chuckled in response.
"Pumpkin," he called, prompting me to open my eyes and meet his gaze.
"I love you," he whispered the moment our eyes met, and without hesitation, I claimed his lips, a broad smile gracing my face.
"You're smiling. Is it really that hard to believe?" he inquired.
"Nope. After all, who could resist falling for me?" I giggled, earning a raised eyebrow from him.
"What?"
"I didn't realize you had this side" he said, smirking playfully. I reached up and brushed my fingers against his lips, biting my lower lip coquettishly.
I couldn't believe that the events of yesterday had resulted with his arms being around mine."I love you' My mind kept repeating the phrase.
He had spoken them out loud to me. It was completely true yet also so unbelievable.
I was aware that he liked to tease. However, after he had said those words and his eyes had locked with mine, I had complete faith in him. Because I trusted him, I didn't question his affection or his feelings for me.
When you truly love someone, doubt dissipates, and trust conquers all fears. This was the lesson I had learned.
"Storm, Luke, come downstairs. They're here," Lola Storm's voice drifted to us, referring to my Papa, my mother, my aunt, and my sister.
"How did she know we're up here?" I asked Luke, but he only shrugged.
"Let's go," he suddenly said.
"You keep carrying me around. I can walk," I protested.
"Words can't express how much I love you, action can only do so much, yet even that feels inadequate. I love you more than anything in this world, Pumpkin."
"You're so cheesy," I chuckled.
"But you love me."
"It's disgustingly cheesy," I grinned, earning a mock glare from him.
Dining Room
"Oh my gosh, I can't believe my eyes," my sister exclaimed.
"I missed you too," I smirked, settling into the chair that Luke had pulled out for me.
"So, when's the wedding?" my aunt chimed in, her expression playful.
"Within this year" Luke answered with a smile, causing my attention to shift to him.
"Sweety, I'm so happy for you," my mother said, standing up and making her way to me.
When she opened her arms, I embraced her.
"I love you," I told her sincerely.
A tear glistened in her eye, and her startled expression nearly made me burst out laughing. But I managed to hold back; I didn't want to ruin the moment.
"I love you too," she replied softly.
I had judged and disrespected my mother, but my time at the mansion had changed me. I'd learned to treasure her, even though I still didn't know why she had sent me to Canada in the past. I realized that everything happened for a reason, and that growing up meant accepting past mistakes while still holding onto my feelings. I just needed time, more time.
"I really love you, Mom," I said with a smile, and her eyes welled up.
When I looked around, I saw Luke kneeling in front of me.
"Storm," he began, taking my left hand and dropping to one knee. "In front of our family, I ask for your hand. Will you marry me?" With those words, he opened the ring box he had been holding.
Will you marry me?
Will you marry me?
Will you marry me?
"Please," he whispered, his eyes brimming with tears.
As I shifted my gaze to him, I couldn't help but smile.
"A real man isn't perfect, but you're perfect for me," I whispered back.
"Storm," he said, his voice filled with hope.
"Yes, of course, I'll marry you!"
"Yes!" he exclaimed, pulling me into a tight embrace.
"I love you," he repeated.
"Why are you crying?" I chuckled, my own heart swelling with emotion.
"Because I'm madly in love with you," he confessed, his voice raw with emotion.
