"Lily..?"
"Boom! Drop dead."
"Lily! Speak to me!"
"Boy, I was being literal when I said 'drop dead'."
"Lily!! Speak to me!!"
"Now that's just sad. You just repeated what you said, but only made it louder-"
"Lily!!! Speak to me!!!" The demon lord fell silent with great annoyance.
"Lily!!!! Speak to me!!!!"
"Now, you're just ruining it all."
"Lily... speak to me..." The hero's immense despair is starting to form into malice and hate.
"What I did must've been way more sickening than I should've imagined." he joked before laughing at his own joke.
"You... monster!!" The hero jumped twenty feet up in the air, and meteor-slashed the demon lord in half. The demon lord let out a banshee's wail, a very queer end, the hero thought.
"...Oh, really?" A condescending, yet well-mannered voice ascended from the shadows, surprising the hero.
"For a second there, I thought I was a beautiful fairy or something, good thing you reminded me of my imperfections. Now I'm very self-conscious. And they call you a hero. Who's the real monster now?"
"You..... how?!!"
"Well," The real demon lord spoke as his brilliant, sleek, battle-ready form walked out of the shadows. "what you've been talking to this entire time was an illusion. The evil orc witch-looking fool that killed your lovey-dovey; an illusion casted unto one of my minions, a mere banshee."
The hero looked back to the throne where the orc-like creature once was, and what he saw was dark energy leaving from the now half orc appearance of a banshee that has its legs and wings tied to a rope, her mobility is understandably non-existent with that bondage knot.
"You... you think everything's a game... you think everything's below you.. even your minions..." the hero gritted his teeth with rage and despair.
"Well, I mean," The demon lord flexed his entire magnificent body and a number of purple lightning hit the floor around him. "they are my minions and I am the most powerful being ever. Do you feel the gravity of your situation, hero? I mean, I just killed your love interest, and you didn't even do anything about it." The demon lord made a smooth, demeaning laughter.
"Shut the fuck up!"
"Woah, hero. Language. 'Fuck' hasn't been invented yet. Well, I mean, so is 'gravity', but.."
"I'll kill you.. I'll kill every last one of you!! Your kind will know my anger, and will suffer my wrath. But first, you will die a painful death."
"First thing's first." The demon lord became more ominous than ever. "You will never beat me with just that. The thing is, hero, the way you responded to the death of that woman-"
"I'll kill you!!!" The hero lunged forward, his sword; about to slice the demon lord in half again.
"Woah there. Let me just.." The demon lord used his powers to stop the hero midair. He then casted a silencing spell on the hero.
"Now, before I was rudely interrupted, the way you responded to the death of that woman.." The hero struggled to put his fist on the demon lord's face, but without ado. "..is very different to the way you responded to those strangers that you don't even have an inkling on who they are. The demise of someone who is actually dear to you.."
"Mmf mmfmm mffmm mf-fm?!!!" Muffled noises came from the hero's nose.
"What I'm trying to say is, hero, you don't actually care about those poor, poor villagers whose families I've massacred, whose homes I've destroyed, whose lives I've ruined. You were only trying to help, weren't you?" The demon lord laughed in an intelligent way. "Ah, a mere child playing hero who doesn't know what he got himself into. Let me tell you this, you are NOT the protagonist of this story. Don't get me wrong, I am not either. No one is. This story doesn't have a protagonist, which doesn't really make it a story, does it? Well, I don't know about that, but what I do know, hero, is that you were only doing it for her." The demon lord pointed at the ever so motionless corpse lying on the floor.
The hero, knowing that the corpse will never move again, felt something inside him and let out a muffled rage.
"I'm going to let you vent it aaall out for now. You're gonna want to ready your mind, your body, your heart, and whatever's left in that pathetic excuse of a shell that the people who believe in you call a "hero".
HoB: "Wow, I finished at exactly 69% of my battery. That's... not really funny.. in any way.."
