A spell that requires sacrifice from the user in order to give up their ability. I read the whole page about the spell and it was horrible. Using this spell comes at a certain price and it's death. I couldn't believe such spell existed.
When i turned the next page, Aelia came in without noticed and she saw me flipping through her spellbook. She quickly ran up to me and snatched it out of my hand. I couldn't read her mind anymore.
"What did you read?!", she looked panicked and i've never seen her like that before.
"I read about warding spells. You can't be reading my mind the whole time.", i said and her expression changed from panic to a serious one.
"How do i know you're telling the truth if i can't read your mind anymore?" , she asked.
"Well, you just have to trust me then...Why -- why are you so quick to put up layers of ward on your mind? How do i know if you're not keeping something from me?"
She turned and the book was gone from her hands. "You don't. It's up to you to believe me. Now, tell me. What else can you do with your ability?"
She sat at the bed side and looked closely at me. "I can read your mind, sent messages to someone else's mind and build up wards around my mind and i still have no idea how i did that."
We started exchanging conversation mentality.
"That lady in your dream. She must have passed you her ability which means she was as powerful as me."
"Wait, how is it possible that a spirit was able to pass me their power?"
"It is possible if the spirit has some connection with the person that he or she is trying to communicate with. Don't tell me you've never seen the lady before...?"
"I swear to you, I have no idea who she is. Maybe she's my ancestor?"
"Could be... but what could she possible warned you about..."
I stared at Aelia's eyes and gave her a worried look. Since she was unable to read my mind anymore, I thought to myself, "You. Fabio warned me to protect you from something or someone..."
She gave me a curious look but shrug it off and invited me to dinner. It was 6pm and i was starving. I went down and the table was served with delicious looking food. We sat facing one another and ate. The atmosphere was silent and awkward. I didn't know what to say or ask her, she would look at me once in a while but i quickly looked away.
"Hey, you know you don't have to make it awkward, now that you're on par with me.", she said while scooping up some rice.
"No, it's not that. It's just-- this is the first time that i've ever eaten with a girl...", i tried to make up some excuse because it was true. I find it so awkward that we're almost equivalent in terms of our ability.
"What about your mother? She is a girl."
"No, that's not what i meant -- urgh, nevermind that. So, you never told me how you and Fabio met.", i was quick to change topic but i was also interested to know how they met.
"Oh, we attended the same school and we bumped into one another in the library. I was polishing up on my Indonesian language and he coincidentally, understood some indonesian words and that's how we clicked.", i could see a smile on her face.
"You guys dated afterwards?", i was curious.
"Oh no. He asked me but i rejected him and we remained friends."
"Why reject him when you're in love with him?"
She put down her spoon and stared at me. "I was afraid."
