Chapter 14

The wind caressed my cheek, I sat at the top of the tree in front of my father’s home. He still believed Justine was me despite her hair color. Ashton and I had been hanging around town, quietly observing and living. He taught me how to mask my scent. This helped in looking over Justine and still standing by her as her wedding got closer and closer. Justine met Corinna. I was kind of upset she sided with Justine but at least I had Ashton. Corinna knew of our whereabouts and when Justine said she wanted to invite me to the wedding, Corinna personally handed the invitation to me. Of course she gave a me a piece of her mind and tried convincing me to go back but I decided not to.

Ashton and I had gotten closer in the past month. Maybe I should feel bad that I no longer had a relationship with Rocco but I wasn’t upset. I had Ashton. Ashton knew what I felt like and he understood. He knew that even if I tried being brave and cold hearted I wasn’t. He knew I need comforting and when I did he held me at night, whispering soothing words into my ear. Rocco thought that I just became a bitch. Not Ashton he knew the truth. Corinna told me Rocco went on with life like I never existed. He flirted with girls and  cared about no one.

The warmth Ashton provided me could be replaced by no one. I wasn’t alone like always. I had Ashton. He gave me hope and made me feel loved. Ashton had lost his mate years ago and like me was mateless. Well I had a mate but he was a jackass.

“Maybe you should go to Justine’s wedding.”

“No she needs to be taught a lesson.”

“No Jess, she’s already been taught a lesson. You’re going to regret not seeing your sister walk down the isle.”

“I don’t really want to go alone. I mean Rocco and I didn’t end on very nice terms.”

“I will go with you but you need to go to your sister’s wedding.”

“I don’t even have a dress and you already know her wedding is tomorrow.”

Ashton sat up and smirked at me. “Look under the bed.”

I stared at him for a while and give him a curious look. I bent over the bed and reached under. My hand land on what seemed to be a smooth box. I pulled it  out. It was a box that had what looked like french writing. I tried understanding what it said. I gave up and pulled off  the lid. Soft pink tissue paper enclosed what was inside. I pulled aside the tissue paper and my breath caught in y throat. A beautiful gold gown lay there among the pink tissue. I loved it.

I squealed and jumped onto Ashton. He immediately wrapped his arms around me. We stayed like that for a long time. I felt like there wasn’t anywhere I’d rather be. He made me fee whole. I slipped out of his arms and look up into his eyes.

“I’m going to go check on Justine you want to come?” He nodded his head. Taking my hand we were off running in the direction of Kyle’s house.

The porch light was on and from the distance we could see Justine and Kyle cuddled together on the porch swing.  I looked at Ashton and he nodded. We reached for each other and in a second we landed on the roof with a thud.

Gotta love teleportation girly.”  I gave him a wide grin and he winked.  We reached for each other again but this time we stayed on the roof. We stayed silent as Ashton held me in his arms on the roof and we listened to Justine and Kyle talk.

Kyle what if Jessica doesn’t come?”

“You’ll have me sweetheart. I’m the only one you really need.

No. Kyle seriously. I have a family and they need me. Even though you don’t think Jessica cares about me doesn’t mean she does. She cares. In her own Jessica way but she cares alright. “
