Vanessa

Bone Fracture/Brain Aneurysm Repair- OR 3- 2:30 P.M.

I gaze in awe at the OR board. I am surprised that my mouth was not open while I stared at the words. I have scrubbed in on surgeries before, but never one where I caught a mistake and made the call. I blink a few times and look away from the board. I take a few steps away from the board and turn around.

I take a few more steps and make my way towards the large window. I look out to the beautiful Boston Harbor that is below. This hospital is located very close to the water, so you can see almost all of harbor.  I then look up to the sky. My eyes watch as the rain clouds cascade over the sky and come closer to the hospital.

"You!" I hear an ugly snarl from the end of the hallway. I turn my head to see an ugly Dr. Slut strutting closer and closer to me.

"What do you think you're doing?" she stops right in front of me, "Stealing my surgeries with Dr. Henderson! Making me look stupid in front of him!"

"Um, doing my job?" I answer back.

"Don't be a smartass!" she leans in close. The smell of her hot breath fills my nose, "He is mine, you hear me? MINE!"

"Well, someone's overprotected," I whisper.

"What was that?" Muff's voice fills my ears.

"Nothing."

"Good," she then turns and walks away. I smirk as I watch that little slut and Satan of a person in one body leave and wonder how she is going to make it through residency.

I grab a bar of soap and turn on the water. I gaze into the sparkling clean OR room and smile. My hands start scrubbing against the bar of soap as I get lost in my thoughts.

The door to the scrub room opens and I jolt out of my thoughts. I watch as Dr. Henderson appears.

"Hey," I say as I look back to my scrubbing hands.

"Hi Vanessa," he takes a spot next to me at the sinks and turns on the sinks, "you ready for this?"

"Ready as I'll ever be." I look over to him. I stare at the messy brown hair falling perfectly onto his beautiful face.

"Good." He turns his face over to me. My heart jumps in surprise and I turn back to my hands.

"Well," I say as I turn off the water, "I'll see you in there."

Quickly, I dry my hands and head into the OR room. I make my way over to the broken leg of the patient and wait for everyone to come. Once everyone files into the room, we get started.

"Scalpel," Logan says as he grabs it and starts to cut into the leg. I watch as his hands move simultaneously and with such beauty that I am amazed. My eyes watch Logan like a hawk through the surgery, taking in every word he says and every move he makes.

As this bone fracture repair is going on, the neurosurgeon on the case is working on a brain bleed as well.

"Dr. Williams," Logan starts. I jolt up a little in surprise.

Did he just say my name?

"Would you assist and hold the clamp?"

I stand there in awe, "Really?" I gather myself together a little more, "I mean, I would be glad to."

I make my way up to the OR table and grab and hold the clamp. In the past few weeks, Dr. Watson has barely let me and the other interns in the OR, let alone assist.
