Vanessa

I groan as I click my pen open and stare at the endless patient forms in front of me.  My hand reaches over and grabs my luke-warm coffee on the front counter.  As I take a sip from it, I write down this final words of this patient's form.  Once I put my almost-empty coffee down,  I finish my patient's form and close it to its beginning page.

I am so excited to be in my surgical residency and do what I've wanted to do for years, but this paperwork might be slowly killing me.

As I pick up all of my papers, I look up to see an approaching Logan coming in my direction. My mouth slightly opens wide as my eyes search for a hallway away from him.

Thump thump

I feel my heart beat faster and faster as he gets closer to noticing me.  Although I can see him coming, thankfully he is looking down intently at some paperwork. I skirt into the onto the other side of the hallway where I am hopefully out of his sight.

For days I have been avoiding Logan.  Ever since I heard about Rachel I haven't known what to say to him.

Hey Logan! Before we go on an actual date, can you let me know who Rachel is first?  Was she your girlfriend? Was she a friend you liked?  Did you love her?  Do you still love her?

Love

Such a tricky term.  I always hear people say "I will love you forever".  Even I have been told this.  Yet these people were the ones who died on me and gave me scars on back and nightmares that will last forever.

Yeah, commitment and love is definitely my forte

After I feel my heartbeat settle to normal levels, I look up to see an Ashley coming my way with a big smile.  Her piercing green eyes are lighting up her face.

"Well, someone looks happy," I mumble loud enough for her to here.  I take another sip of my coffee.

"I," she starts, elongating the "I", "got to assist in a surgery today. Sooo-"

"So you're happy," I add in with a monotone voice, cutting off her wayyy too long "so".

"I am elated!" she quietly yells as she opens her arms up. I stand watching her with an emotionless face.

So while I am on the Bay and paperwork all week, Ashley is assisting and actually learning surgery. Great. Just, great.

Ignoring my uninterested face, she continues to talk about every aspect of the surgery. Usually, I would listen to these ramblings and all of the surgical information used, but not today. Today, I am freakin tired.

As Ashley is going on and on, my eyes drift to the side of face. And you guess who I see? You guessed it! The Doctor Logan Henderson.

This hospital is huge! Why can't I just spend one day without seeing him and thinking about, well, everything involving him.

My eyes gaze at the sight of him. His messy brown hair and light scuffle fit his face so perfectly.

I might be ignoring him, but damn he is handsome.

As I gaze in his direction and get lost in my thoughts,  Logan turns his face slightly.  It take me a few seconds process where he is looking.  And then I realize.
