Vanessa
"This was not your fault. The patient was too far gone."
"I would do it again in a heartbeat."
"I am here if you need someone, ok?"
"Do you want to get a drink tonight?"
"I'm sorry, but no"
"We will see about that."
I run yesterday through my head over and over again. Wondering what I could have done differently. If I did something different it would be better. I look at the other interns rambling aimlessly about some unimportant topic. My eyes see their lips moving, but all I hear is my head and yesterday's discussion.
You made the right decision. He is a superior and they can't date.
No, you made the wrong the decision. IT WAS A GUY ASKING YOU OUT, EXTREMELY HOT I MIGHT ADD. He was so sweet to you when you were at your worst.
He was nice, but men being nice never lasts. They always end up hurting you. Remember: he's known for, let me rephrase that, he is the three F's.
And now, what do you ever say to a guy after rejecting him? Usually after I rejected a guy I stopped talking to them in general or as little as possible. Logan is my boss, and my bosses boss, so I kinda have no choice.
Ugh.
I bang my head on the cafeteria table as everyone stops talking and looks over to me. My head sits on the table as my blonde curls cover my face.
"You ok, V?" Ashley says as she stuffs her face with her sandwich.
"What's up? Surgery life too hard for Miss Perfect?" Ryan says teasingly.
"You wish," I mumble out of my squished face.
"Um, would it have anything to do with Dr. Henderson?" says a giddy Abigail.
"Does everything with you involve someone, especially Dr. Henderson?" I lift my head up as my hair some curls fall over my face and into my vision. My face turns to face Abigail and I tuck the curls behind my ear, "And no, I wasn't thinking about Dr. Henderson because my life doesn't revolve around him and never will."
"Well that is a disappointment to me," a deep voice says behind me. My eyes open wide, "I am glad that you guys are talking about me though."
Oh, shit
My head turns to meet a smirking Logan looking down at me.
"Well, hello, Vanessa"
I stare into Logan's blue eyes with my mouth slightly open. After a brief moment, my mouth forms, "Hi."
Hi? Real impressive V
"Well would you look at that, I'm being paged," Ashley says, lying straight at us to get away.
"No, you didn't," I look at Ashley with pleading eyes to stay.
"Beep Beep Beep," She makes the sound of a pager, "Yes I did! I got to go!" She gives me a quick smirk and quickly skirts out of the cafeteria.
"Look me too."
"Oh darn, I got to go as well"
One by one, the other interns made up fake pages and left me alone with him.
Oh, crap
I watch as he puts down two coffees on the table grabs a seat. "Alone at last."
