Vanessa
My hands start to shake as I try quietly as possible to get up from my bed. With every slight creak, my heart beats out of my chest.
I can do this Vanessa
I have been planning this for months
I have put up with his drunkenness and abusiveness for too long
I can do this
I have to do this
Slowly, I tip-toe towards my closet, where I have hidden all of my belongings. From my one old toothbrush to my 3 dirty shirts, it is not a lot, but it is all I got.
I open my bedroom door, and I turn to take one last look at my childhood room. Although it is pitch black, I make out the outline my twin bed, dresser, and my big and slightly broken nightstand. The place where my life flashed before my eyes.
As quiet as possible, I tip toe down the creaky hardwood stairs and walk through the kitchen to the front door.
"Going somewhere," I hear the hoarse slur of his words behind me, making my whole body freeze. I turn my head around slowly, hoping that I didn't just hear what I did.
He clicks on the lights, blinding me for a moment. Once my eyes adjust, I see him. At the kitchen table, he sits watching me with his bloodshot eyes.
"I'm leaving," I squeak out. With a blank expression on his face, he stares at me. Gulping, I try to moisturize my scratchy throat, only to be given no saliva.
A crooked smile reaches his lips. He then bursts into laughter, sending chills down my spine.
"You're LEAVING?" He manages to get out between his laughter, "You CAN'T leave! How the HELL will you survive?"
He steps closer and closer to me until I can feel his alcoholic breath touch my skin, sending my hair rising to the tips of my toes. Lightly, he reaches his hand out and touches my face. I look away from him.
"And we haven't even had any fun yet."
My stomach crawls with disgust of him. He comes in more and I can't take it anymore.
"Get away from me!"
I take my foot and kick where the sun doesn't shine as hard as I can. Groaning, he crouches down and I push him away from me. With my adrenaline running through my veins, I bolt to the front door.
"YOU BITCH!" I hear from the kitchen.
As quickly as I can, I unlock the front door and run outside into the street. I clutch onto my bag as hard as I can as I continue to bolt down the street.
*beep beep beep*
"YOU WILL NEVER ESCAPE ME KILLER MONSTER," his screams echo in the distance.
*beep beep beep*
"NEVER!"
*beep beep beep*
