Vanessa

The rest of the day was boring in the Bay. Few superficial wounds here and there, but nothing very eventful. Well, after Bertha that is. As I stare down at my fingers, running random suture routines through them, I ponder about tonight. What we're doing, where Logan is taking me, and pretty much every other question in the book for going out with someone. As friends, I might add. Again.

As I look up from my make-believe wound, I see Ashley fast-walking over to me. "So, a little birdie told me that you have a date with Dr. Henderson," she says and she plops down next to me, "you gonna get some of that." She licks her lips.

I push her lightly in the shoulder, "God, Ash! Do you make everything sexual?" I ask as I turn to look at her.

"You didn't answer my question."

"I don't need to answer it."

"As your friend that is intrusive as me, yes you do," she states as she leans in, "so spill it!"

I roll my eyes as I go back to my fake sutures. After not responding, she whispers, "Maybe I could just go around the halls singing Logan and Vanessa sitting in a tree."

I look up at her, "You wouldn't."

"Try me," she says as she clears her throat, stands up and gets ready to belt her heart out.

"Alright! Just sit down," I yell at her. She smirks as she dramatically sits back down on the hospital bed. For a amazing surgical resident, she can be very childish.

"We are just going out AS FRIENDS," I say, emphasizing the friends part.

"Are you sure, AS FRIENDS," Ash responds while using air quotations on the words "as friends".

"I-" as I am about to say every reason why this isn't a romantic date, I draw up blank. I mean we said as friends we were going as friends, but he didn't say where we were going or doing. All I know is that I have a lot of questions. "I. I don't know. Maybe it is, actually."

"Ooooh, a date!" I jolt up to see Abigail popping up from behind the bed. "Tell me all the details!"

"Jesus Abigail!" I yell at her as I slap her on her arm. But as usual, she ignores all of my comments and starts her ramble-fest.

"You know," Ashley adds in as I roll my eyes. Oh, god, "I heard that he usually just brings him back his apartment. And. You know." She nudges me with her elbow, "So you must be special if your going out."

"God, you guys are so gross!" I shift away from both of them on the bed. Right after I do so, Abigail squeezes her way between me and Ashley and takes a seat. With her swift motion, I am forced closer to the side of the bed.

After Abigail gets settled in, she turns over to me and whispers, "You know, I heard he does this thing with his eyes and hand at his doorstep to lure his one-night standers inside. Oh! Also, I heard-"

I stand up and back away from the hospital bed. "Stop!" I yell. Everyone looks up at me from their bed and I turn red as a ripe tomato. After an embarrassing few seconds, everyone turns back around to their own business, seeing nothing important happening. I then turn my yell into a whisper, "Just please stop! We are not going to have sex. I am definitely not going to be a one-night stand. We are going out as friends and that's it."

We are going out just as friends.

I stand up and strut out of the Bay without looking back.
