The large, intimidating building stood in front of Jungkook as he approached the double doors to enter.
"The nerves starting to kick in?"
Junghyun asked, observing Jungkook's expression.
"A little, yeah."
"I know you'll be fine- beside, you have been waiting for this, you should make the most of it."
The words comforted the younger, although there was still a slight feeling of butterflies. The two step inside to meet the rush of cool air, giving Jungkook the chills. They make their way down to the laboratories, where the evaluations take place.
"Hey, Jungkook!"
Jimin, Jungkook's best friend, calls from down the hallway.
"Jimin!"
Jungkook instantly perked up, running toward his friend and forgetting his brother.
"I didn't think I'd see you before the evaluation, are you nervous?"
"Yeah, I mean I feel like it's hard not to be- what about you?"
Jimin shrugged, continuing the walk to the laboratories with Jungkook.
"I don't know, I wasn't really anticipating the evaluation, so I kinda just want it over with."
The younger listened, understanding the great difference between the two. Jimin had always been the more rebellious type, which worried Jungkook. It made sense for Jimin to react to the evaluation with negative thoughts, but Jungkook wished he would see the other side, the good side.
They reach the end of the hallway, entering the laboratories. Junghyun went to the designated "waiting room" until the evaluations end.
"Well, I'll see you after then."
Jimin waved goodbye and walked to another area of the room to wait for his evaluation. Jungkook waved back before taking a seat on the nearest chair.
"Jeon Jungkook-"
One of the nurses called out, catching Jungkook's attention. He walked toward her, taking note of the building anxiety.
"We'll go into here-"
Jungkook steps inside the evaluation room, observing all the curtains that people are being evaluated behind.
"You can follow me in here-"
They step into a space with curtain walls. All that sits inside is two chairs, which Jungkook directs himself to.
"All right, so you're Jeon Jungkook, age eighteen, height is 5'10'', weight is 145 pounds- is that all correct?"
The latter nodded, attempting not to make his anxiety apparent.
"Okay, so tell me about your interests and hobbies."
Jungkook tried to think carefully before answering.
"I don't do much, I pretty much just read and sleep."
"What do you like to read?"
The nurse questioned after writing notes down on her clipboard.
"Well one of my favorite books is Romeo and Juliet."
Jungkook regretted his decision as soon as he finished speaking.
'Why did I say that? That book is purely about a love story.'
He questioned himself, feeling like he just made the biggest mistake of his life.
"Alright, how about your favorite color?"
Despite the simple question, Jungkook had to thoroughly think his answer through.
"Probably gray."
"Why is that?"
"There's always a pale gray color before a sunrise, I think it looks nice."
The nurse nodded as she wrote on her clipboard again. Jungkook still felt nervous, wondering if he'd given a risky answer. His thoughts were interrupted by a low rumbling sound. The nurse seemed to notice it as she opened the curtain to look out. Jungkook peeked out out of curiosity as the sound progressively increased. It seemed unreal when a herd of cows began running through the room. Jungkook watched in astonishment; he noticed a note attached to each cow reading, "NOT CURE, DEATH." The message came across as confusing to Jungkook, but he felt too overwhelmed to even think at the moment. A figure standing on a table caught Jungkook's attention through all the chaos. He was puzzled as he saw a boy standing, unfazed, on top of a table with a smirk across his face. What bewildered the younger even more was when the boy looked back at him and winked.

Soon after, Jungkook gets cleared from the evaluation room. He makes his way down the hallway, recalling the past situation. He concluded that the entire prank was pulled by the "invalids." The invalids are people who live outside of their society and are uncured. He shrugged the idea off, not wanting to think about forbidden things.
But ironically, he couldn't get that boy out of his mind.
