The night came faster than Jungkook had hoped; he became a nervous wreck by the time curfew had passed. He debated whether he really should sneak out to the party, but his gut told him that he needed to go, not just to prove Jimin wrong, but he wanted to prove it to himself- that he can be risky.
After confirming his brother was sleeping, Jungkook quietly cracked open his bedroom window and slid out silently. He understood once he was outside, there was no going back. The anxiety rose when Jungkook made his first steps away from his house. He became more alert of any potential regulators around while he quickly sprinted through the neighborhood. It wasn't long before he reached a tall barn that played music loud enough to hear from a great distance, and colored lights shining from all directions. He approached the party in an anxious manner, almost becoming completely spooked once he saw a swarm of boys and girls dancing together. Jungkook immediately stopped and wondered if he could turn back, but his thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Jungkook! I can't believe you're here!"
The latter turned around to meet Jimin.
"Oh, hey- yeah, I thought I'd come."
"How long are you staying?"
Jungkook shrugged, he didn't want to stick around in case things got out of hand.
"I don't really know..."
Jimin tugged on his friend's sleeve, basically begging.
"Can you pleeeaase stay?"
"If I say yes will you let go of me?"
"Yes."
"Then, yes."
"Okay, coolio."
Jimin swiftly let go of Jungkook before dismissing himself to go dancing. The latter was now again left alone in the mass of bodies. He scanned the area to find a place to sit, attempting to look around the crowd. His attention was drawn toward the crowd, specifically one particular boy. Without any thought in mind, Jungkook ran to the boy.
"Hey-"
The nerves didn't kick into Jungkook's system until after he spoke. The boy turned around, and he observed the younger before giving a slight smirk.
"Hey."
Jungkook wasn't exactly sure what to say, but he knew that he had some weird relation to this boy.
"You, um- you're that guard, right?"
"Yeah, my name is Taehyung."
'Taehyung,' the name repeated in Jungkook's mind, he thought the name had a nice ring to it.
"I'm Jungkook."
"Jungkook...wow, it's nice to finally know."
The way Taehyung's tongue rolled out Jungkook's name so smoothly had the younger feeling some type of way. But he stopped himself to reflect on the rest of the statement, "it's nice to finally know," taking emphasis on "finally."
"Finally know? Have we met multiple times?"
Taehyung looked hesitant for a moment before he spoke with an almost defeated appearance.
"Well, kinda. I was at the evaluations that day, I'm sorry I lied to you. I just wasn't supposed to be there and I could've lost my job if I told you when you asked, so I denied it."
Jungkook stood still in complete silence; he was uncertain of how to respond. Taehyung filled the void, attempting to give a full confession.
"I also just watch you sometimes, you never realized it, but I always see you and your friend together."
A look of confusion drew upon Jungkook's face as he tried to recall any time Taehyung could have been around him and Jimin. Then he wondered if he'd done anything embarrassing (probably). Despite those thoughts, he found the idea quite endearing.
"Wow, well it's nice to finally know you then."
The older chuckled lightly at Jungkook's response (also in relief that he wasn't super creepy). The two became silent for a moment, and Taehyung's eyes directed to the dance floor with an idea.
"Would you wanna dance, Jungkook?"
