Delirium // taekook

Jungkook had been working a part-time job over the summer at the local grocery store. He was currently working, the morning after the raid. His mind was racing as he thought about Taehyung continually, (and the giant bite mark in his leg). He was also concerned with the fact that he couldn't get in touch with Jimin. 

Jungkook continued to worry, but he concluded that he would have to wait until after his shift to see either of the two boys. That's when the latter turned toward the register and caught a glimpse of a familiar smirk. Taehyung's crooked smile was irresistible, and Jungkook couldn't wait till the end of his shift to see him. 

"Hey Jun, can you cover the front? I gotta go pick up orders, thanks."

The younger didn't even wait for a response before he slipped out from behind the counter and walked away with Taehyung. The two conversed for a while, (more like flirting) before Jungkook decided he should go back, but he wasn't going to exactly leave either. 

"You're going back but you're not leaving?"

Jungkook smiled in a smug manner.

"Yeah, I'm gonna sneak you in through the back of the store."

"Look who's breaking rules now."

"Shut up, just go through the back door and wait in the room. I'll meet you there soon after."

Jungkook turned around and walked away; he hoped Taehyung hadn't noticed the heat that rose to his cheeks at the older's previous comment. 

He made it back to the small corner store, grabbing an armful of medicine as he walked inside.

"I'm just gonna restock in the back, thanks for covering me, Jun!"

Jungkook set down all the bottles once he made it to the secluded back room, and he opened the door expecting to see a grinning Taehyung, but he instead was glaring at a worried Jimin. The small boy invited himself in as he stepped inside the room. 

"Jimin-"

"- listen, I'm sorry for coming here so suddenly, I just really needed to see you."

The latter's words had Jungkook taken back for a moment. (jungshook) He wanted to hear every word his friend had to say, but he was also anxious that Taehyung wouldn't show. 

"What's wrong? Is it about the raid?"

Jimin nodded his head and simultaneously, tears began to trickle down his cheeks.

"Yeah- I almost died, Jungkook- it was so scary, there were dogs chasing us, and then raiders running too- I really thought I was gonna die."

Jungkook watched the fragile boy sobbing in his arms. He felt helpless as he remembered the night, when he tried to save Jimin, but he failed to. 

A small knock interrupts Jungkook from confessing he was at the raid. The door creaks open and Taehyung peaks his head inside the room. He meets eyes with Jungkook, observing the current (awkward) situation.

"Come here-"

The older was motioned next to the crying boy. Jungkook flashed him a quick grin before giving his attention back to his friend. 

"Jimin, I was there that night- and so was Taehyung. I tried to save you from the raiders, but it was too late. I was attacked too, luckily Taehyung was there to help me. But I'm so sorry I couldn't find you, if only I'd found you sooner the-"

"It's okay-"

Jimin sounded weak, but his words were audible.

"It's okay, Jungkook. There were a lot of people there, it's almost impossible to find one single person, especially in all the chaos. I'm just thankful you came all that way for me, you really did risk your life for me, Kook- thank you."

He glanced, with glossy eyes,  in Taehyung's direction. 

"And thank you for taking care of Jungkook out there."

The statement caused the younger to blush, and he felt immediately embarrased. Taehyung however, just simply nodded. 

Jimin paused for another moment before speaking again. 

"Let's just all agree to be friends and look out for each other, okay?"

Jungkook grinned slightly, feeling positive of the idea. He glanced toward Taehyung for a reply, and he nodded once again.

"Okay."
