Chapter 18

(Y/n)'s POV

This was not how I had imagined my life. I mean, sure heaven and hell would hate me but I didn't expect to be caught by mere humans.

"(Y/n), I'll ask you again. Why did you murder Alois Trancy?" asked Lachlan, the 'boss' of this investigation.
"How many times do I have to say this? I did not kill him."
"We have witnesses who have seen you sneak into Alois Trancy's manor and kill him."
"Who are these 'so-called' witnesses?"
"I'll be asking the questions here. Now, I'm going to ask you for the last time... Why did you kill him?"
"*sigh* I did not kill anyone."
"Men!"

Two men came in with some strange liquid. Immediately after I was injected with the 'poison', my head started hurting and pain was spreading throughout my whole body.

"It's painful, isn't it? What we just gave you was a special type of poison created by a secret organisation. This secret organisation was formed initially for the extermination of dangerous beings, such as angels and demons. And yes, we know what you are."

What? How?...They were humans. Humans should not and could not know of these things.

"You must be wondering how humans know of these things, am I correct? Well, that information is classified. You will feel pain until we get you to confess. Got it? So you better start telling the truth if you don't want to die."
"As I was saying, I did not kill anyone. And I don't know how you know who I am, but I will not be contained by the likes of you."
"Hmm, interesting...seems like you need a stronger dose of the poison."

I was injected with more of their strange drugs. But it wouldn't work on me...because I was telling the truth from the beginning! Tch, blame the innocent and believe the suspects. What was wrong with these humans?

"Now, why did you kill him? What caused you to behave in such a way?" Lachlan asked with a tired expression.
"I didn't kill him. What more is there to say? Who are the witnesses?"
"*sigh* Call them in."

A while later, Claude and Hannah walked in.
Huh?! Were they the witnesses?! Claude...must've planned this. Why was Hannah here? She must still be trying to get rid of me...even after all these years.

"Was she the one that you saw kill your master?"
"Yes, it was a very tragic event. *fake sobs* I-I feel very upset that she would even do such a thing," Hannah replied with a sad expression.
"Tch, give me a break. She tried to kill me. Why do you believe her? She's a demon, they lie."
"(Y/n), that's enough. I'll be coming back tomorrow," exclaimed Lachlan.

*sigh* My life really was cursed. I just wanted all this to end...was that too much to ask for?

Liam's POV

I paced back and forth in the lounge of Ciel's manor. I've already located (Y/n)'s whereabouts but it would be difficult to get inside and possibly impossible to get back out.

Why does she have to be kept in the DAEO (Demons and Angels Extermination Organisation)?! That place had too much security just for one case.

"Are you sure about this?" asked Sebastian.
"Why wouldn't I be sure? Who do you take me for?"
"A creepy guy that came here unexpectedly, claiming to know (Y/n)?" Finny asked, a little uncertain.
"*sigh* No, my name is Liam Summers and I'm (Y/n)'s childhood friend."
"How are we sure that we can trust you?" Meirin asked.
"You can trust him," exclaimed Ciel.
"Thank you, sir."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. That was strange...Ciel said that he didn't have anyone coming over.

Sebastian went to get the door. On the doorstep was a girl with blonde pigtails.

"Ciel! I've come to visit you!"
"*sigh* Elizabeth, I don't have time for this. We're discussing some important business right now."
"Huh? You look so cute! Are you perhaps Sebastian's rival wanting to win over (Y/n)'s heart?" she asked me with a cheerful smile.
"I-"
"Oh my, I'm terribly sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. My name's Elizabeth and I'm Ciel's fiancé."
"It's nice to meet you, Lady Elizabeth. I'm Liam and I don't believe I have a chance to win over (Y/n)'s heart."
"Don't tell me...Sebastian and (Y/n) are in a relationship?! We should get ready for their wedding!"

Ciel glanced at Meirin, Bard and Finny. They all nodded discreetly before leading Elizabeth away.

"Sorry about that, she comes over without telling me. In all honesty, it starts to irritate me," said Ciel.
"It's fine."
"Anyway, you say that you're the angel king's son? And you know (Y/n)'s location?"
"Yes, that is correct. She would most likely be under interrogation right now. She's currently inside the DAEO. I believe Sebastian has already told you about that. Anyway, there is a very small chance that we will come out alive even if we do manage to get in to rescue (Y/n)."
"I see. What will they do with her?"
"That, I'm not exactly sure about. But in total, we'll most likely have approximately a little over one week before she is hanged."

I looked at Sebastian and noticed that he was looking out the window. Geez, how much does he miss her? I used to believe that demons did not harvest any feelings at all. Now, looking at him, I wasn't too sure.

But it's not like I could say that about him. I was worried about her as well. She could die for all we know and I wouldn't be able to do anything...
We won't let that happen. She'll live, I'll make sure that she does.
