Chapter 23

(Y/n)'s POV

~Nightmare~

"You're not useless, you're a monster. You'll soon rule over everyone."
"Who are you? What are you talking about?"
"You've known me for a very long time. I'm simply telling you the truth."

The truth...I wasn't a monster, it was a lie. Yet, why am I doing this? Why am I killing everyone? Is that what I was destined to do?

"Yes, that's right. Kill them, (Y/n). I'm glad you willingly sold me your soul and followed my orders," exclaimed Katrina.

What happened to me? This was surprisingly fun. I couldn't believe it...I was killing people for fun.

"(Y/n), stop this! Not even Sebastian would do this!" Liam yelled.
"Listen to him, (Y/n)!" added Sebastian.

No...this cannot be happening. I can't kill them.
Then why was I sending my spells towards them? Why was I ordering everyone to kill them? Have I really become a monster?

~Nightmare end~

*gasp* No, that was not happening. I will not kill anyone.

"Did you have a nightmare?" asked Michael.
"Why do you care?"
"Why can't I?"
"It's none of your business."

I wanted to escape this place. I hated being treated like this...

~A few days later~

"Throw her in," ordered Katrina.

Michael threw me in, just like the other three times.

The pain was indeed more painful as time went by but it wouldn't matter if my body grew used to it, right?

Well, that was what I had thought. It was no use...as much as I would like to jump out of this poisoned water, I was bound here every time. The pain got worse and worse and I couldn't seem to get used to it. And almost like it was inevitable, I lost consciousness every single time.

~Dream~

I missed my mother and father. They weren't going to be back until late. I wonder what's going to happen.

"You look upset. Don't worry, they'll be back soon," Liam said while sitting down to me.
"Yes, that's right. Don't let it bother you too much," exclaimed Sebastian.

That's right...we were childhood friends. We could never be separated. Well, that was what I thought.

Liam and I were erased from his memories... We were destined to be separated. Like the me I was back then, I forgot all about Sebastian. Pathetic...

"Want some?" Liam asked while holding up an apple.
"No thanks, I don't like eating."
"One day, you'll eat happily," said Sebastian.

~Dream end~

When I woke up, I was back in my rotten prison cell. The windows were fixed but reinforcements were made. Now, they wouldn't shatter but it didn't mean that I couldn't break them.

*coughs* Damn it...she was taking over again.

I'm back, (Y/n).
Get out of my body, Pearl.
What are you taking about? This is my body. I'm the one that's going to control you when you don't follow Katrina's orders.
In your dreams. I'll never let you take over my body. The last phase will never happen.
We'll see. But I'm just gonna tell you...it will happen. No matter what you say, you'll soon disappear from this world. Every piece of evidence that you once lived will be erased. You'll really disappear. No one will remember you.
Stop sprouting nonsense.
Well, you're boring me. I'm going to go back to sleep.

Tch, I hated her. The spell that Katrina cast on the water forced her into my body. Now there was no way to get rid of her.

~Some time later~

How desperate was Katrina?! Two phases in one day? No, I couldn't let this happen now. I had to stop this somehow.

But it was probably too late. Michael had already thrown me into the water. The fifth and final phase was indeed the worst. I'd lose everything close to me and disappear from this world forever.

"Stop this, Katrina!"

A loud explosion interrupted my negative thinking. Suddenly, I was lifted out of water.

"My apologies for taking so long to come, (Y/n)."
"Sebastian!"

I held onto him tightly, not ever wanting to let go.

Sebastian's POV

I was never going to let her go again. I couldn't live on without her. I needed her.

For some unknown reason, she pushed me away and fell onto the ground. She was gasping for air.

Her appearance...it was changing. Her usual black hair turned into a grey and her eyes turned dangerously dark and red.

What was happening to her?

"Nice to meet you, Sebastian. I'm Pearl, the person that will make (Y/n) disappear from this world."
"I do not quite get what your point is. That girl is not someone that will disappear easily."
"Tch, then I guess I'll have to make you believe me!"

She was fast...I could barely keep up with her attacks. How was I supposed to get (Y/n) back?

Liam's POV

Fighting Katrina was hard but at the same time, it was boring. Nothing interesting seemed to happen.

"Liam, why aren't you focused on fighting me? Am I not enough for you?"
"No, that cruel personality of yours is just too much for me to handle."
"I've gotten stronger since the last time I saw you. I've been training you see..."
"Training, you say? That's strange because your strength and magic seem to be at the same level as last time. All you did improve was that wicked thinking."
"Shut up!"

I dodged all of her attacks and kicked her stomach.

"Tch, how rude of you to hurt a lady," she exclaimed.
"Oh, you were a lady? I thought you were a beast."

Before she could attack, I pulled her hands behind her back.

"*sigh* It's a shame really...you can't use your spells effectively without your hands. I've noticed that from fighting you."
"You'll regret saying that, Liam."
"I won't."
"But how are you going to save (Y/n)? Sebastian can't damage her because it's still her body. I'm the only one that has the antidote."

I just smirked. She had no idea...
