Yuki's POV
When we arrive at school I half heartedly step out of the car, waving off the limousine. I turn around to stare at the huge marble structure in front of me, also known as Tokyo High School. (Don't mind my completely unoriginal school title) I really don't want to go, and I sigh again.
"Hey Yuki!" I hear someone shout from across the yard. I turn to see a group of girls giggling, waving at me. I groan, not more idiot fangirls. I've had types of girls like this in my life for a long time, even after my parents were killed, the ones who weren't afraid of me acted like this, wanting me for my money.
I do my best to ignore them and head to my class. At the end of the long hard day I head to my locker to grab textbooks. As I'm about to close my locker, I notice a drawing I made in the corner.
It's a picture of Yuni I sketched a couple years ago, that I've kept with me all these years. I smile when I look at it, and think of the girl I met in my dreams. I know it's weird, but I've always felt like Yuni was watching over me, like she promised. I always feel like someone's watching me. I shake the thought away, it's nonsense, Yuni's just a dream. Before I can shut my locker, someone shoves me, and I land on my ass.
"Hey Nishiki," someone laughs. I lift my head up to see Rin, my main bully, smirking and high fiving his idiot friends. I stand up and dust myself of, ignoring their laughter. I'm about to make a snarky comeback when Rin reaches into my locker and pulls out the picture of Yuni. My blood turns to ice, and I lunge over to him, trying to grab the picture from him. He dodges me, and grins, but inside I know he's slightly scared. Everyone at school knows I'm not weak, I've taken fighting ever since my parents were attacked. I've trained to be a well sharpened blade. The only reason they pick on me is because they know I won't fight back, I'm passive and don't really care about anything. Except that picture, it's the only thing I have to remember Yuni by. One of his goons shoves me up against my locker while Rin looks at the sketch.
"Your imaginary girlfriend Nishiki?" Rin laughs, passing it to his friends. I struggle as hard as I can to get out of his grip, and knee him in the stomach. He falls to the ground, holding his stomach, and I lunge at Rin again, this time successfully grabbing the picture. I sprint as fast asI can to front, jumping in my limousine, telling the driver to put the pedal to the metal. He sighs and obeys, speeding out of the school parking lot. I look through the window to see Rin holding up his fist. I smirk and laugh before turning around, happy I got the picture back. I examine it, it's a little wrinkled but I flatten it on my lap, admiring it. Yuni was beautiful.
When we reach the mansion I head up to my room. When I open my door I'm met with a pair of turquoise eyes. There is a girl sitting on my bed, staring at me. My eyes widen and my mouth opens, but no words come out.
"Yuki!" the girls screams, jumping on me, knocking me off balance. She cuddles against my chest and... Purrs?! "Oh Yuki darling, you're finally old enough, now we can be together forever!" she says happily.
I shove her of my chest and back away quickly. I stare at her, shocked.
Yuni???
"What's wrong Yuki?" she says, her face filled with concern. She crawls towards me, her cat tail swishing, and her ears down.
"W-who are you?!" I shout. She backs me against the wall and licks my cheek affectionately.
"It's me Yuki," she says, staring into my eyes. "Yuni," My eyes widen and she laughs. "You finally called me, and you're old enough now, we can run away together like we promised," she licks me again and whispers, "You're mine now Yuki,"
I blush and stutter, "B-but you're j-just a dream,"
"I'm not a dream Yuki, I've always been real. I know you felt me watching you all these years, don't lie," My mouth opens. "I said I'd watch over you," she whispers. My face is bright red now, our foreheads are touching. This strange girl can't possibly be Yuni, she's not real, it's some kind of joke. But.. how could this person know what we said to each other that night? Was that really not a dream? The girl moves closer and kisses me, sitting in my lap. Before I can react, I hear footsteps coming up the stairs and she leaps off me, diving out the window. Maki rushes in just as the girl disappears, and she starts blabbering on about something. I don't hear a word of what she says, I'm thinking of the mysterious girl who seems to be the neko I met ten years ago in a dream. When Maki walks out of my room I shut the door and sit on my bed, flustered and confused. I feel something fluffy on my cheek, and turn to see the neko girl nuzzling me. I jump, and she laughs.
"You're so cute when you're flustered Yuki," she purrs, licking my ear.
My face flushes a bright shade of fuschia, and she giggles again. She crawls into my lap and I don't stop her, I'm too flustered by the fact that she looks exactly like Yuni.
"You do remember me, don't you darling?" she asks sadly, her ears dropping. Her sad expression makes my heart break, and I hug her on instinct.
She smiles and hugs me backs. This was my Yuni, there was no denying it. "Y-yes, I remember y-you," She pulls away and kisses my nose, just like she did that night. I stare into her eyes and I'm mesmerized yet again, by her beauty. Her eye catches something on the floor, and she crawls off my lap to pick it up. It's the picture of her.
Tears fill her eyes as she looks at it, and I'm confused until she smiles, they're happy tears.
