Chapter Twenty

*****************

(Chris' POV)

He haven't said a single word about Rachel's whereabouts. I had no clue at all but was left with that proving my sincerity.

"Chris" The admin girl came knocking on my door.

I raised up my head, looking at her for a second. Wondering in my mind what's her name. Frowned at my absolute question mark in my memories, I gave up.

"Erm, your name?" I took a closer look at her. She had a short black hair unlike most of the ladies in the office. Heard before from my Human Resource Manager, Adeline said that she was taking a part-time Bachelor Degree at night. Seemed young in her age, probably in the early twenties only.

"Lin" She smiled brightly as she waited patiently.

"Lin." I nodded in taking note of her name in my mind. Trying hard and hopefully that it would be the last time I would ask her again.

"Chris, Grace called." She pointed at the pending signal on my phone.

I gave her the hand sign that she can go back to her desk while I picked up the phone unwillingly.

The handset brought to my ear while I waited the other party to start speaking.

"Chris, can we have a serious talk tonight?" She was speaking in a mono-tone. Very unlike of her since she was either yelling or talking with much overwhelming unhappiness.

"Darling, you almost forgot about our date." My eyes looked out of the window, smirking with my evil thoughts that I could not stop imagining. The expression and reaction that she would be having the whole night, just to endure me till the last end.

"Chris" Her voice went silent.

My intuition was that her eyes would probably filled with tears on the other side of the phone as she had left no choice but to follow.

"I'll meet you at the studio." I gave my clear stand, not budging in any compromise. "Oh I almost forgot to tell you. The media will be there"

Hanging up the phone as I let out a soft break of laughter. It had been the first time which I ever felt that I was way upper hand than Grace had been.

(Rachel's POV)

"Thank you" I lowered myself at the fire pit, feeling the warmth spreading across as we both sat in this freezing weather. It had been a week that I stayed in this island with Hilbert. We did many stuffs together. It was the first time I actually do hunting. Hilbert showed me how to aim at targets with rifle and when to release the trigger.

We made barbecued food for dinner and sometimes go around the forest, watching the natural habitats like National Geography Channel.

"I thought it was an inspirational trip for me and you." He smiled gracefully as he continued turning the stick that were barbecuing the meat.

"It is for me." My eyes stared at the blazing fire, thinking about the different experience that I had. Not likely I would imagine myself doing such thing in the past. Clearly, experience can change one person's perception. But I wonder if such would make me reconsider or change my feelings.

"Come to think, after another few days and I will be returning back and start everyday with a desk filled of documents." His eyes felt tiredness as I see him sighing in despair.

"Your father wants you to take over?" My question brought my curiosity forward.

Nodding in agreement, he turned to me and smiled. "I don't mind if I am going there with a capable secretary"
