Lois' POV

"Lois!" Looking up, I saw Ann jogging towards me. She looked tired and not just from running her way here, she looked pale.

"Ann, are you sick?"

"Ha? No! I...Uh--ugh! I have a stomachache earlier so I was late." She put a hand on her stomach and bended her body a bit as if she was feeling pain.

"Are you okay? Maybe you should go home for now if you think you can't go any further. I can go with you if you want." I rubbed her back and she raised a hand to stop.

"I'm fine. I'll just ask for a medicine at the school's clinic. Come on, Lois. No need to worry." She gave me thumbs up while adjusting her bag's straps on her shoulder.

"If I see you cringing in pain, that's it. Whether you like it or not, I'll take you straight at the hospital." I placed my hands on my hips and looked at her with squinting eye.

"Nope! That won't happen!"

We walked down the stairs to subway and waited for the train to arrived.

Woosh!

As if the air suddenly changed. I felt something or someone was watching us right now. I looked down a bit, hiding my eye behind my short hair in front so I could study our surroundings. I averted my sight on person to person but no one seemed looked suspicious at all. Yet, I could still feel the eyes watching us from afar.

"Train's here!" Ann pulled me by my hand as she pulled me out of my observation and we were already inside the train cramped with passengers.

Third Person's POV

"Like you heard last week, gym class is canceled today. Instead, I'm supposed to give you some guidance. The gist is, don't go around talking about the incident. That's all. The police are still investigating Mr. Kamoshida, so I can't say anything myself."

All students were quiet as they listened to their home room teacher. But of course as a student, there were others did not mind what Ms. Kawakami was saying infront. Most were listening like a responsible student including the white-haired girl who was resting her arms on the desk.

"As a teacher though, I'm ashamed for not having noticed that a student was suffering like that... I'm not defending him, but as a colleague, he just seemed like...well, a normal person. Honestly, it still doesn't feel real. I guess people can have multiple sides to them..." The teacher let out a deep sigh.

Lois propped her chin in her hand and was spinning her pen around her thumb with the other hand. But suddenly, she failed to catch the pen with her index finger when her head was twinging in slight pain. She decided to hung her head down so she won't be noticed.

"Oh yeah, I just remembered something I learned about psychology. They say that humans have several different personalities hidden in their subconscious."

Half-lidded eye she raised her head up a bit, interested to her teacher's words.

"Oh, to be clear, I'm not talking about multiple personality disorder. These different personalities can be a different gender or a different age from you.  I mean, if you think about how gods and monsters in myths were first based on the human image...if you actually saw one of those personalities with your own eyes, it might look like a monster."

'Different personalities...?'

'Subconscious...?'

'Monster...?'

It was like a broken recorder or something that the words was repeating inside her head. She felt it again and this time she rested her forehead on her forearm, holding her head.
