Chapter 7- Change

"Wake up"

My eyes felt heavy as I tried to open them, after a few seconds though, I managed to get them open and was looking at a roof. I sat up quickly and noticed that I was in a hut, it's a rather large hut too. A tiger skin lay across the floor like a rug, the bed itself looked to be made up of different animal hides and furs, it felt comfortable, to say the least.

I turned my attention to the weapons that were hung up on the wall, all of them looked deadly. The different skills that were on the shelf creeped me the hell out, a lot of them were animal skulls but a few were human and some that I didn't recognize. A kitchen stood next to the weapon rack and also a door that was on the other side of the room, I had no clue to what that was.

I shook my head and took the warm covers off of my body and as I was about to swing my legs over the side of the bed, I paused when I saw my skin had...scales? I stared at my legs with blank eyes while I ran my fingers across my slightly rough skin. I looked at my fingers and the nails were sharper and darker as well as the nails on my toes.

Things were louder and I could hear much clearer, like my hearing, was more sensitive. It was dark yet it looked like day, I quickly got up and almost stumbled forward, but caught myself and I hurried to the front of the hut and pushed aside the curtains. The light from the fire made me hiss in discomfort "too bright" I groaned out as I covered my eyes from the light. 

Every step I took, I could hear it so clearly, the crunching of the ground beneath my feet sounded so loud against my ears and it hurt a little. "What's going on?" I whispered, feeling scared from the changes. My skin, my sight, and my hearing were different and it was scary. I froze as I heard footsteps coming to the camp, but they sounded far away.

I had time to hide, or escape! I could leave this place! But where would I go? I had no idea where I was or if any other humans were alive, the footsteps were getting closer and I panicked. I turned and ran into the jungle, I was faster but it was hard to run because I kept tripping over things. My senses were on overload and it was very hard to focus with everything coming at me. Even the smell of the jungle was different, I could smell everything!

I looked back as I heard something running towards me and it seemed like my sight zoomed in on what was chasing me and it was the being from before. My eyes went wide and I turned my head to look in front of me, I needed to survive and get away from him! I focused on running, I needed to focus on that and try to get as far away from him as possible. So, I ran. I ran as fast as I could, I wasn't even out of breath, it was amazing!

A laugh escaped my lips as I kept my gaze in front of me. *Amazing! This is amazing!* I thought and grinned while jumping over a fallen tree. "I'm leaving him in the dust!" everything seemed to blur as I ran, but I skidded to a stop when I saw the trees open and a cliff in front of me "fuck!" I yelled out as I stopped right at the edge, my hair fell over my shoulders as I teetered forward a little but quickly jumped back. 

"Holy shit! That was too close!" I exclaimed but spun around when I heard a low chuckle and my eyes went wide as the male stepped out from the shadows, the moonlight made him glow lightly and I watched him with caution.

"Yes, that was too close. You almost fell, then who would I have to play with?" he asked and I heard a growl, but flinched as I realized it was me.
