Chapter 17- Fight

The air was knocked out of me as I was slammed against the rough trunk of the large tree, I wheezed lightly as I slid down the bark. I could feel it scratching my back and I thought I felt blood beginning to make its way down my now scarred back. 

"You took him away from me! You disgusting hybrid! He was supposed to be my mate," I looked up, my vision blurry as I saw the large figure making its way over to me. My breath was shallow and every time I breathed, I could feel a sharp pain in my side *A broken rib* the painful thought went through my mind.

I grunted and a painful noise escaped my lips as a large hand roughly wrapped around my throat. I gripped her wrist weakly, clawing at its scaly skin as I tried to get air back into my lungs. "H-he.. wouldn't have wanted a...beast like you anyway" I wheezed out and took a strangled gasp as her grip got tighter and tighter around my neck.

"He's going to be mine, even if I have to kill you to have him"  I felt my eyes begin to roll back as the air couldn't get to my lungs anymore *I'm going to die..*

Dinner was really tense. We had all sat at the table and when I say all, I mean: Dark, Brave One, Nightblood, Maki, and I. It wasn't tense because of the food, no, the food was delicious. It was tense because of Brave One and Nightblood. Nightblood had tried to talk to his father, but all he got from the older man was occasional grunts and very little talk. I could sense that Brave One still didn't like me with the way he ignored me and pretended I wasn't even there. It hurt, a lot that he didn't even want to acknowledge that I was there or that I was his son's new mate!

I didn't say a word to him and tried to keep a smile on, I didn't want to mess up the dinner, but after a few minutes, I couldn't handle it and had to excuse myself. Now I was in Nightblood's room, on his bed crying softly. I was already stressed out from being kidnapped and sent to that fake jungle then being attacked and chased which lead to me being injured and getting a blood transfusion from an alien which in turn made me into a hybrid. Then all this lead up to me falling in love with said alien and going to his planet,  now...now I find out that his father wants nothing to do with me? It made my already thin resolve and emotions snap and I just had to cry.

I began to cry harder and put a hand over my mouth to stop the ugly sobs that were coming from my body. It was so hard to calm myself down, to stop crying. I heard the door slide open, my back was facing the door way and I froze, hearing a soft sigh and the door sliding closed again. There were muffled footsteps and the bed dipped a few seconds later

"Jane..." Nightblood's voice invaded my ears and what little calm I had, broke into a million pieces and I started crying again, only even harder and began to hiccup. I could feel the slight panic coming from Nightblood and felt his hands turn me on my back. I looked up at him with watery eyes, I could feel tears going down my cheeks like a faucet and I could even feel some snot running from my nose. I probably looked so ugly. I sniffed loudly and my lip trembled as I looked up at my mate "N-Nightblood" I whimpered out pathetically.

His golden eyes looked into my blue ones and he reached towards me, wiping the tears and even the snot away "gross" I gave a choked laugh as he chuckled as well "It's not gross if it's for the one you love" he mumbled, almost sounding like a rumble of thunder with how low he spoke. I sniffed again and sat up, he pulled me into his lap and held me close as I laid my head on his shoulder. 

"Your father hates me, doesn't he?" I asked, breaking the silence and the Yautja breathed in deeply before sighing and ran his fingers through my hair.

 "He doesn't hate you, Jane" I snorted and rolled my eyes before I got out of his lap and walked over to the window and looked at the city in the distance
