So, yeah! Happy late New Year's everyone! :D okay, yes, this chapter took a freaking long time to be made. And I apologize, I didn't mean to take this long. I started this book last year so it took me two damn years to finally finish this! I can't tell you all how happy I am to finally be done! Writing a book is hard work! For real! You have to write drafts, write drafts for those drafts then pick the one you like best, make characters, think of how to make the characters batter, their flaws, their best qualities. Then you have to read over the chapters to make sure they're good. Phew, a lot of work! But now, I can finally publish this chapter and I really hope you all like it! Thank you all for sticking with me and enjoying my work! It's been one hell of a ride lol. I don't know if I'm going to write another story or not. Probably not for a long time. And for the people that are waiting for their one shots, I am so sorry it's taking me so damn long! Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this! Bye-Bye *waves*

Quiet, peaceful, warm...safe. The bed under Jane's body cradled her like a mother would to her new born. The female slept soundly, covers drawn up to her chin and maroon hair spread on her pillow like a halo and some was splayed across her tanned cheeks. Jane's lips were turned up slightly in a smile like she was having a good dream. Beside her laid a massive body, her husband, Nightblood had his massive arm wrapped around his wife's waist and every time she moved, he would bring her closer to him. Even when sleeping, he's protecting her.

It was early in the morning and everyone was supposed to be asleep except the little footsteps that went across the wooden floor. The door was slightly closed but it opened just a little and it creaked a little. Nightblood twitched and opened his eyes, they were blurry with sleep but he saw one green eye peeking out from behind the dark door.

"Seraphina? What's wrong?" Nightblood asked, deep voice even deeper from sleep but he was slowly waking up as the door was pushed open more as the small child made her way into the bedroom.

"I had a bad dream" she mumbled and Nightshade looked over when Jane moved slightly but stayed asleep. He turned his attention back to his daughter as she managed to climb up on the bed. Her favorite yellow duck clutched in her hand and her black hair was messy.

"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked and opened his arms for the small child. She looked even smaller next to his massive body and that made him want to protect her even more. Seraphina climbed into his lap and snuggled into his chest, he could feel her smooth scales against his slightly rough ones and felt her shake her head. "Don't wanna" The child's voice was soft and it shook slightly from fear. Nightblood wrapped his arms around her tiny body and laid back so she was laying on his chest.

He fixed her very soft nightgown and laid a hand on her back. He could feel her relax as he pulled the covers over the both of them and he was quiet as he looked up at the cream-colored ceiling. He saw a small hole in the ceiling from when Jane had thrown her pen up to see if it would stay there. She must've forgotten that she was stronger than a human because the pen had gone through the ceiling and into the attic. They never found the pen.

Nightblood looked down as he felt tiny hands on his mandibles and looked down at his daughter. Her heterochromia eyes stared back at him and he blinked as she pouted then looked back at his chest, she stopped touching his mandibles. He was very curious now, she is a talkative child, gets it from her mother, she should be talking his ears off now. But, she was quiet, silent even. Even if it was very early in the morning-he needed to check the clock- she should be giggling and talking.

"Seraphina," her eyes snapped to his and she blinked owlishly then looked back down at his chest like it was the fascinating thing in the universe. He said her name again, only softer and reached up to move her messy hair from her eyes and he could see her eyes were more watery than normal. Then, he saw her bottom lip tremble and he became alarmed. The Yautja carefully sat up-so he wouldn't wake Jane- and held his daughter in his lap, smoothing down her hair and tried to calm her down so she wouldn't cry.
