Karen's POV

"Karen! Open Up! You're going to be late for work" my roommate / best friend Jacky shouted as she banged on my bedroom door. I jumped out of bed and quickly changed into some black skinny jeans and a random t-shirt. I pulled my hair into a simple ponytail and ran to the kitchen for some quick breakfast. Jacky was standing in the counter, sipping tea and shaking her head.
"Good Morning to you too," I remarked sarcastically grabbing a pop tart and placing it in between my teeth while trying to put my converse on and rush out the door. I walked quickly to the bus stop. As I turned the corner, I saw my bus pass by. I waved my hands so the driver could see me but he just drove away. I groaned and took out my phone. I opened up the an app to see the bus schedule. The next bus was coming in 30 minutes. It was 7:50am I needed to be at work at 8. My job was 25 minutes away I wasn't going to make it on time.
'Get an Uber' I thought to myself. It was going to be worth triple then what I paid for the bus so I decided to walk it. It was a beautiful day, why not enjoy it. I started walking and finishing my pop tart. As I was reaching the halfway point to get to my job, I got a phone call from my boss.
"Hello?"
"Karen, honey, I have good news! You can have your day off. We have enough employees working today and we don't need more. So sleep in honey, Have a Great Day bye!"
She hanged up.
I clenched my fist and turned around. This day already started badly but at least I had the rest of the day off and I could sleep in if Jacky let me. I walked back to my apartment, imagining that I was going to go back to sleep as soon as I got home.
"You're back?" Jacky asked as soon as I walked home.
"Yea they gave me the day off to sleep so yea bye" I said, trying to walk quickly to my room.
"Wait Stop"
I knew it. I wasn't going to have a day to relax.
"It's Cleaning Day!" Jacky said. I groaned and gave her my best puppy face.
"Oh don't give me that face. We are roommates. We both agreed to live together and we are supposed to maintain this apartment together." She stated with a serious look on her face.
I didn't say anything and just grabbed the broom.
