Chapter 8

Thirty minutes later, after showing them around my small apartment and telling them how I met Jacky, the pizza finally arrived.
"So Karen would you like to explain who that guy was?" Zach asked,taking a bite of his pizza slice. My name must have been caught in his brain because whenever he wanted to say something to me he used my name. It was kind of cute. We were all sitting down on the living room floor in a circle. I looked at Jacky's door and sighed. She hasn't come out since we got here.
"Well, his name is Mark. He just turned 20. He's Jacky's boyfriend and he's just an asswhole." I replied,shaking my head and thinking about all the things Mark has done to make Jacky suffer.
"How does he treat her? Because after what  happened, I'm guessing like crap?" Corbyn asked. He didnt know Jacky but he was so worried about her it made me smile.
"He comes everyday. Pretends to be the best boyfriend ever then when he notices something he doesnt like he yells and insults us and then leaves." I replied,taking a bite out of my pizza slice.
"Wait a minute, he insults both of you?" Jonah asked. I nodded.
"What does he usually say?"
"He calls us fat and lazy; sometimes calls us bitches. He called me a hoe once. I'm used to it by now" I replied. Jonah and Corbyn frowned.
"Has he ever touched any of you?"
I shrugged.
"He has never touched me but i dont know about Jacky. They hang out here alone when Im working."
"He has never touched me." we heard Jacky say. All of us look up and see her standing near her bedroom door. She had makeup scattered all over her face and her eyes were puffy and red. Her hair was up in a messy bun and she had changed into some old sweatpants and an old tshirt.
"Jacky come eat with us." I suggested,tapping the space next to me. Before she could sit down,her phone rang.
"I-its him" Jacky said .
"Don't answer it" Jack,Daniel,Zach and I said.
"Answer it" Corbyn and Jonah said, disagreeing with us. Jacky looked at her phone and looked back up at us.
"I-I dont know what to do." Jacky stuttered. Corbyn stood up and walked toward Jacky. Jacky froze. Corbyn grabbed her phone and answered the call, putting it on speaker.
"Babe I'm outside Can we talk?" Mark asked.
"Im sorry Jacky is busy right now." Corbyn replied.
"Um who is this and why do you have my girlfriend's phone?" Mark asked angrily.
"You mean ex-girlfriend because she doesn't want you anymore."
"Excuse me who the fuck do you think you are? Jacky is my fuckin girlfriend she hasn't broken up with me. We are perfectly in love.Give her the phone back. I need to speak to her"
"Well excuse me I'm Jacky's new man. Jacky has been in love with me for the longest time. She was just waiting for you to make a mistake so she can break up with you. So go get yourself a new girl to take advantage of. Bye asswhole" Corbyn said, hanging up.
Jacky's eyes widened. Then, we heard someone screaming outside. We peeked through the curtains and saw Mark kicking his car and yelling a bunch of curse words.
"Gosh he has anger issues." Daniel said, shaking his head.
"Why did you do that?" Jacky said to Corbyn.
We turned around.
"I did it so you can be free from that man. You don't deserve to be treated like that"
"You shouldn't have done that." Jacky said,her hands were shaking. I stepped in between them.
"Jacky please all he was trying to do is help."
"No Karen don't you get it Mark has anger,drug, and alcohol problems. He can be dangerous and do some crazy shit."
"Has he threatened you?" Corbyn asked,furrowing his eyebrows.
Jacky didnt say anything,she just stared at the floor. I frowned and walked away to my room,shutting the door behind me. Jacky had not told me anything about being threatened. I layed down on the bed,satring at the ceiling. Me and Jacky would always tell each other every single thing.
"Knock,Knock" I heard someone say. The person didnt actually knock. It was Jonah.
"Hey there. You okay?" He asked, sitting at the edge of my bed.
"I'm just tired." I replied.
"You seem annoyed.. Is it because of us? Do you want us to leave?"
I shook my head.
"Jacky has always told me everything. I don't know why she didnt tell me that she was bring threatened."
"Karen,you need to understand. It wasn't easy for her. She was probably scared. I mean why dont you see through her perspective. How would you feel if you were being threatened?"
I sat up and looked at him. I took my time processing everything he said. He just sat there quietly, staring back at me. Before I can say anything else, the rest of the  boys came in.
"Wow Karen you have posters with our faces on it." Zach said,pointing at my Why Dont We poster. I nodded and blushed. My favorite band was inside my room, staring at their poster on my wall.
"Hey Jonah I think we should probably get going. It's already midnight." Daniel said.
"But wait we can't just leave them here without protection. He might come back." Corbyn stated.
"He can't come back. He doesnt have a key" I replied.
"He knows how to pick on locks." Jacky said,quietly.
I sighed. I just wanted Mark to leave us alone and let us live our lives.
"Sleepover with our fans?." Zach said, smiling.
