Chapter 4: Yes I Am Female, So What?

Nears POV.     
    It finally looks like someone tied with me. A few seconds after people realized what was just announced they started whispering while looking at me. I managed to make out a few "Who thought someone would tie with Near especially a GIRL" "I totally ship them both, too bad their emotionless" "wow... a girl tied with a guy? I never thought girls were that smart." In all honesty I didn't appreciate the fact that they were judging her for being female and not male. I glanced up at her and met her eyes. We looked at each other for a few moments until MELLO had to ruin it again by saying "NO WAY! A GIRL?! Us guys are smarter than girls! There is no way I'm letting a girl sit at our table , she deserves too be with her own weak kind! I DONT WANT-" he was suddenly stopped by y/a throwing her knife which missed his face only by 2 centimeters. I looked at her and still , she showed a blank face. 'Interesting' I thought. 'Too bad she will face the consequences ' I thought.
Your POV

I couldn't help it ... all my life I have been judged because of that and there's no way I'm letting this happen in my new home. "Y/a,Mello. Please come with me" said Watari. As we were walking , Mello was glaring at me the whole time and I was just ignoring him the whole time.
         We were in his office and was lecturing us about what we did and  was wrong. " Now for your punishment, you two will have to run two laps around the whole orphanage, serve the food, and clean all of this will start tomorrow" said Watari

           I entered my room and s/n jumped out of her bed and ran to me to ask "What happened!?" " I need to run, serve, and clean for an entire week." "Why did you even do that to Mello , the only one who would've gotten in trouble was him!" "..." "ANSWER ME" "I couldn't help it. I couldn't go through that again"i said saying the lady really low almost in a whisper , but I doubt she heard. "Alright, just promise me you won't do that again. Okay?" "sure"

Nears POV
  I walked out of my room which is right next to the twins. I went to go eat breakfast and I saw Mello and y/a serving the  food. I got my food and sat down at our table (our:near,mello, matt,you) . After a few minutes, everyone sat down and were eating except y/a because she and Mello were serving the food but he left earlier. There were only four seats at our table and the only empty one was the seat next to me. Mello sat in front of me and Matt sat beside him. Y/a finished and sat next to me. As she was eating she noticed Mello was staring at her every move. "Stop staring at me it disturbing " she said
without looking up. "I don't see why you should sit with us. I mean for starters you are a girl and second , it's obvious you cheated" said Mello. I don't know what took over me "Do tell me what the problem with her being female is? Also, there's no way she could've cheated without getting caught if Watari was there the entire time and her sister was across the room." I said. But of course that didn't satisfy Mello. "I asked her not you, and how do you know Watari didn't separate them two when they took the exams?" " Because the first time I came here, it was with someone at the same time. Before we took our exams Watari made sure to separate us." I said. For once he finally became silent. After we finished eating , Mello and Matt walked out leaving y/a and me alone. There was an awkward silence between us both until she decided to break it " thank you" she said in a soft monotone voice. I just nodded in response. Although there was something familiar about her I couldn't put my finger on. As she was leaving her sister was walking to me. "Hey I'm Near was it ?" S/a asked. "Correct" I responded with no emotion in my voice. " I just wanted to let you know that y/a has been through a lot of judging and bullying ,so please, if anything happens to me , make sure to be there for her okay? I also noticed she admires you . But promise me you'll be there for her ." I finally decided to look up "I promise"
